They likely will when Sargeras is let loose/breaks loose of the Titan prison and Illidan is then free to do what he does. I wouldn’t expect anything more than nightborne and void elves becoming playable DH’s though. The assets for those exist with blood elf and night elf respectively. I don’t have faith in Blizzard to come up with new assets for all the races. If I had my way though, draenei and orcs would be DH’s.

They did it with warlocks.

I’m well aware they opened race class combos. Warlocks didn’t need new assets created though.

They would have to create 2 unique demon forms for each race added.

If they haven’t done it with druids (unique animal forms), paladins (unique class mount) or shamans (unique totems) for each new race then I don’t see them adding new demon hunters beyond void elf and nightborne. They would just use the existing demon forms so it would be an easy copy paste.

why they can just make the Demon form all look the same. Remember when warlock gets demon form every race looks the same when in demon form

That was way back in Wrath though. The demon hunter demon forms have elven features. Highly unlikely that they would do that for all races in modern WoW. Besides, there is 0 chance they add more demon hunters unless Illidan or the Legion comes back into the story.

Canonically it makes sense with elves, because as we’ve seen elves take the phrase “you are what you eat” a bit too literally. Their bodies alter heavily based off whatever they’re around/feed from/happen to them. So that said, DH’s being expanded to both VE and NB would be nice and stay thematically correct.

I will say again DH should only be elves.

There are still two elf races that can’t be DHs. Let’s start with those.

Please no. You may not care about story or lore, but many of us do. Right now we have one of the best back stories of any class in lore. EVERY SINGLE DEMON HUNTER was personally transformed by Illidan Stormrage, possibly the most iconic character in the history of WoW. Why would we give that up for some new skins?

Those two races were not around when Illidan was transforming Demon Hunters.

Specifically, only elves that were around when Illidan was transforming and training Demon Hunters, since that is where we all came from.

I agree that the malleability of elf DNA may be why they make good candidates for Illidan’s process, but so far as we know, Illidan is the only one who knows how the process works. Remember Illidan is a master of both Fel and Arcane magic, who was transformed himself by Sargeras. Until Blizz says otherwise, he is the only one who can pull this off. Remember also, the ritual of transformation had a 90% mortality rate! What elf in their right mind would volunteer for that risk today, even if we knew how to do it?

Why? Of all the elf races, this one makes the least sense. Void elves didn’t even exist when demon hunters were made.

I would agree: if they decide to make new DH races, this is how it should be written. Respect the story!

‘Respect the story!’

My friend I think that time has long gone, but I agree it would be a decent way to go about it in the current mess of things!

Xmog looks better on velfs

That’s all that matters to me.

Anyone still silly enough to argue lore as a reason to prevent anything race related should say hello to tauren rogues and lightforged locks, then go touch grass…

Not true. Telarius Voidstrider is a DH ghost in Darkshore and drops a quest that has you turn it in to a sentinel. The quest/flavor text is that it is part of the ritual to become a DH. Once a DH becomes a DH, they know the process. Feronas Sindweller was on Azeroth, in Felwood, as well. This would be during the time after the raid on Black Temple and the wardens imprisoning the majority of DH’s. It stands to reason that some DH’s would be around to train others or pass the knowledge on.

Void elf DH’s have high elf customizations. Lore wise, the Illidari are more or less neutral anyway. It is entirely plausible that any high elf/blood elf DH’s walking around Stormwind are just some of the blood elves Illidan trained. There are darkfallen customizations for the void elves already, and they are mostly associated with the scourge/forsaken. Your stance is a lack of imagination. A void elf DH wouldn’t have to be a void elf DH in the story.

The only thing I agree with you on is that they will not add more playable DH’s until Illidan returns. That’s as good as it gets for story reasons.

I get that some only care about looking cool. I figure that’s all many care about, which is why they ask for this change. But some of us really like the current lore and story behind Illidari and don’t want to see it cheapened just for transmog. Blizz story telling is necessarily uneven, because it’s a communal story created by dozens of writers over 20 years. But Illidan and his Illidari are one of the highlights, one of the parts they did well. Illidan is one of the most compelling characters Blizz ever created. So I don’t want them to screw this up.

Just saying they could make an excuse isn’t good enough (for those of us who care about such things). Of course they could make excuses; they can do anything they want. They can write utter nonsense if they want. IF they are going to tamper with one of the actual good stories in WoW, they need to do so in a way that makes the story better instead of worse.
