I admittedly have not played a lot this expansion, even less for PVP, but can someone explain how Execution Sentence does 68k damage? I dipped down to 65% HP and had some incoming DoTs, but overall I was in a safe range, so so I thought. This was in a random BG, so I’ll presume it was zerker/pots/etc? Or is this just the normal damage of that spell? Took me way off guard.

Could have been zerker/saltwater like you mentioned. Ret can also stack an azerite trait called Avenger’s Might that gives them a ton of mastery (increased holy damage) during wings. Probably a combination of stuff.

More than likely salt water and or zerking. I have 2 avenger’s might traits and mine crits for like 30-40kish with inquisition and wings up.
It is rather high for the base ability, but there are a lot of things that could be in play.
Were you in Temple of Kotmogu since the orbs increase damage done/taken?
Most BGs have a Zerker buff in there someplace.
Some classes have debuffs they can put on you that increase your damage taken.
I know in temple I have picked up the zerker buff and one shot an orb carrier with Starsurge. Which is not something that would happen under normal circumstances.
Even with 3 x mastery traits, zerker, and saltwater, 68k is extremely high. Were you in Kotmogu by chance, and were either of you holding an orb? I think that would explain the unusually high amount. There are most assuredly other factors in play here. ES hits a bit harder than Templar’s Verdict, and is definitely not a 1-shot type of ability.
Nope, it was EotS, right as the game ended. I probably had it coming to me, after farming the Rets several times lol. Was just shocking to see rougly 65% of my HP disappear in a single blow.
I stack 3 traits and with saltwater and dp with judgement buff it’s very possible

Also depends on if he’s stacking mastery/versatility on top of that, or going for a normal haste build. In pvp, when I pop wings with triple AM traits, my execution sentence is at a base of 21k damage (360 ilvl, mastery/vers build, had inquisition up). Throw in Judgement(25%) and zerker/salt and its super possible. Hit a guy right after temple of kotomogu started who had the orb for a 90k execution with zerking/salt/wings up.
Avengers might is a stupid trait and needs to be changed somehow, and it’d be nice to not have to rely on overpowered burst like that to get kills. 35% mastery to nearly 73% because of trait stacking is kinda insane.

This is the kind of damage you’ll see with a tres stack Avengers Might and decent gear / enchants in arenas.
67k isn’t even unimaginable with buffs, trinket procs, especially battleground consumables if you didn’t have feint up and took the damage head on.
Edit: Inner Strength is a 10% DR so that would have been a 65k hit non mitigated, similar to the damage you took.

Did you armory the player? That could tell you something if you look at his azerite traits and trinkets especially.
120k dmg in a second? better counter it dog. lol

my best strike of execute sentence was 40k with the wings and a gear that I have of 370
