Examples of Layering exploits and problems

Not nearly as much as sharding would.

Are you that incredibly dense.

The 5hr wait was in vanilla with less people.

If we go with what your narrow minded thoughts are. The queues will be close to 12hrs.

Some servers were hitting 10hr queues in wrath. With less people expecting to be at launch.

Also any person who keeps referring to it as sharding right away has no clue as to what they are talking about.

It was not… Malygos never had hours long queues

It did happen. I remember it happened. I remember a period of 2 weeks i couldn’t get on due to the queues.

Hours long queues on Malygos ? Nope…sorry…didn’t happen.
Malygos was never high or full. It was medium all along.

You said “every server, every day for 3 weeks”

It happened.

Malygos wasn’t an original server. It came later. Im talking when the original ones started up.

Malygos was an original server.

LH increases the spawn rate based upon the number of players in a zone, which is definitely NOT vanilla.

It is one way to handle heavy server populations, but it does not handle the other issues of que times and dead servers.

The code is vanilla code but wasn’t turned on in vanilla.

The dynamic spawns don’t bother me. I’d rather see all the players all the time.

Well these megaservers don’t have to worry about dead realms because there is only 1 server.

Here…check your server before deciding that it wasn’t an “original server”

I don’t remember it being around at launch. It must of been a tiny server.

Doesn’t change the fact the queue times up to 6hrs were commonplace on over a 3rd of the servers.

I might of overexaggerated when i said all. But it was still a lot.

So long queues were part of vanilla and sharding wasn’t? Cool, thanks. No changes.

Or they could just open more realms. They don’t need to ruin the game with sharding to prevent long queues.

Even so, I’d rather have no sharding and long queues than sharding and no queues.

It’s the same feature, bud. The only thing different is the size of the area affected. Instead of affecting zones or even zones within zones, it affects the entire continent.

However, it still suffers from all the same issues sharding does, and for all intents and purposes, is the exact same thing.

Neither did Suramar. The realm was “dead” from basically day 1.

Yeah, and a lot of people “remember” mobs in vanilla hitting harder. Their memory was wrong.

Neither is sharding. Not sure why anyone would be in favor of either feature.

Hahahaha.

I only came in to debate you on this because of your statement of absolutes.
It wasn’t tiny but Malygos was always medium.
We didn’t have queue problems.

This isn’t my original server. Started on frostwolf.

East coast and west coast servers had the most issues with queue times.
Logical since those coasts are more heavily populated then central and mountain time.

Is that why Lightbringer has 1/4 of the population of ND?
The people on LB are stuck on a dead server.

The same thing would happen in classic without layering (or some similar solution). While Blizz could merge servers, that would cause players to lose names.

The population of Classic will start with a spike then drop down after a month or two. Layering is not a perfect solution, but it is a solution that handles some of these issues.

Either way it’s a moot point. Blizzard is not going to change their approach 2 months before release. If layering is a huge issue for you, just wait a few weeks until after release and all the tourists have left.

The point I was making with that is this :

Arguing how something should be removed in classic because it was not in vanilla by using pServers as your example – when the same pServers use another solution to combat the same issue – is not a valid argument.

I’m sorry I was not clear enough with that point. I think the person I was speaking to got it, at least.

Nah…because of FRESH is the reason LB is low pop.
and Northdale will become low pop when Silver Hand opens up.
pserver players love FRESH,

They didn’t open multiple servers at once.
So it’s not even a valid comparison.

Added Staysafe’s video on layering above.

Oh, yeah. I agree, that’s silly.
