Evoker's Range

Aside from Festering Strike and auto-attacks (which are how they would generate free Death Coils), UH is pretty much all ranged with Clawing Shadows. It just does more when in melee.

Evokers are not melee tho, they are ranged spellcasters. That was how they were advertised. Personally we need to bump them to atleast 35 so that way u still have to be close but not that far away from the healer/ranged dps pile, and ur not standing right behind the melee. :cloud_with_rain:

I only really notice it in solo content.

It’s pretty bad, especially for most BGs, but really bad for epics, you literally can’t reach tower guns in most BGs. Evokers, especially devastation would have to be much tankier or do way more burst for it to make sense, but they don’t. It’s the reason I prefer to play hunter, DK, or ret paladin. Ret paladin has 20 yards on most of it’s, and its MELEE, DK also had 30 on some of it’s, they’re both significantly more tanky than evokers.

It feels great in melee groups, awful in ranged groups. I hate playing with ranged players, they’re always off in Narnia and I’m constantly out of my movement charges having to fly to them to heal them and then back in range of the melee, so I never have them when I need them in an oh no moment. So now I stack my groups with melee.

I don’t mind, but if we essentially have to play like melee, we need more than just kiting to stay alive. It’s so easy for melee classes to render our mobility irrelevant, and then all we really have is Obsidian Scales. Renewing Blaze may help recover from a burst, but it won’t stop it.

As a resto druid with a 45 yard range and like 2 whole hard casts, no. There are plenty of other ranged just as mobile or more that dont have that cap and it can seriously hinder group comp when healing.

Now if hover worked like old school kiljaedens where you activate it to permanently cast while moving but it shortened your range to 25 yards i could see it being a decent trade off.

So, the vibe I’m getting from people is a mix of indifference and vitriolic hatred. About what I expected.

This is why I think evoker healers should get the usual 25 yard range or what ever it normally is. Chasing down ranged DPS is a pain.

Normal healer/caster range is 40 yards. Preservation sits at 30 yards. The two Evoker DPS specs sit at 25 yards.

…And Druids can talent to have a 45 yard range. :clown_face:

I really like it honestly, far enough to not struggle with the melee issue of too much overlapped effects. But required to be close enough I can’t just sit in Narnia and have to make use of my mobility kit.

Was weird to adapt to at first, and while from a preservation perspective would be nice if a handful of abilities had a little more range, I rather like the enforced medium range for Evoker, given their mobility kit. Feels good as devastation, having to fly around getting the disintegration beams in.

Considering it’s the reason I haven’t bothered with the class, no, I don’t like it. The fact that they tried to pass it off as a feature is even worse.

So you’re okay with getting a max of 3-5 Disintegrate/Living Flame Casts off every 35 seconds in exchange for 15 yards less to chase the boss/adds the tank is pulling away from you? Or how about when healing where you need to dispel someone or heal someone and everyone is spread out? You don’t get enough Hover charges to heal like that.

Our mobility isn’t that great to begin with. As Dev you can get off about 3-5 Disintegrate/Living Flame casts but that’s not game breaking. Most of the time, I’m using my Hover to get mechanics out quickly so my mobility is actually erased and I still have to suffer the range penalty lol.

As Pres, you always have ranged off in Africa so you might spend a Hover charge to get that nasty dispel off on a ranged in Timbuktu, and use another charge to get back to where the majority of players are. Even then, all you really cast in Pres is Living Flame (barely) or your Empower spells and you can’t channel your Empower spells while Hovering lol.

You arent supposed to like it. Its a negative to balance out your mobility and large amount of instant cast spells.
