Evoker tanks?

They won’t.

You’re making a false assumption.
Adding more tanks, factually, increases the number of tanks.

There are absolutely people that aren’t tanking right now because none of the current tank specs interest them. Adding a new spec with a new fantasy to capture those people will increase the number of tank players.

Not when there is a massive shortage of tanks around.

I dont like to tank. On my DK it is super boring to tank. You never die and are unstoppable with a very minimal rotation. Removing presences also removed the appeal for me. Warriors had their stance removed and with no stance dancing and no option to mix specs anymore, warrior tanking has just gotten boring for me too. You just spam two bottoms over and over and sometimes press another one. It is way too easy and you dont lose aggro so there is no need to put any effort into being good at it as being good or bad, you can will still get the job done.

Tanking is so boring for me and I am just average at it and I find it too easy. I cant imagine how it feels for someone who is actually y a skilled tank to try it out and say that it is any fun at all.

I want Evoker tanks and shamymy tanks. I have yet to meet a shammy who has played their sham since Vanilla who says that they do not want to tank on that toon.

Dragon scales are harder than steel in WoW lore and in almost every piece of written fantasy. Even Smaug from the Hobbit who was 1 tenth the size of some of the bigger dragons could only be killed because he had a gap in his scales. If that didnt exist, he would never have been killed. Dragons can soak up damage more than any other race can by far.

DH tanking too is press a button collect dropped orbs, get to 5% HP, pop CDs take less damage, take orbs and hit 100% HP in a matter of seconds. Can I describe anymore how boring tanking is? A bunch of us could probably tank a heroic in green gear at this point. Never done a druid tank so I dont know if it is good or bad.

And I have a monk but I have so many toons across so many accounts that I dont even know where it is.

Adding more tanks wont change the fact people don’t like tanking. All that will happen is people willj play the dps/heal versions and ignore the tanks, aka all new classes from wrath to now. Best solution would be making tanking more fun since its only good in M+,raids boring and no role for tanks in serious arena.

Well think of it this way. There is a direct correlation between the AOE cap change and the tank shortages. And changing it back to how it was does nothing. Most already quit it.

Shouldn’t add a tanking spec to a 2 spec class because the last classes added all had a tanking spec is a ridiculous argument, by the same measure they shouldn’t have a DPS spec since every class added has had a DPS spec, equally nonsensical.

No one’s asking for the DPS or Healer spec to be removed, but they only have 2 specs, and the race only has that 1 class, as opposed to every other race in game. Adding another spec would be greatly appreciated (especially by me since i don’t play healers and don’t care much for ranged) and a tank/Black Flight focused spec would be thematic. I’d be fine with another DPS spec honestly, just… SOMETHING. Cause again this is the only class they have and they only have 2 specs, they have next to nothing.

Third spec would be awesome.

Tank spec would be awesomer.

More classes for them would be awesomer.

“Dragons are squishy” should not be a universal statement XD

(Poor Shammies, masters of the elements… except Earth)

There’s a reason why Blizz made tanking like that though. They keep heaping on stuff onto the tanking role making your actual rotation required to be minimal by design. No other role has the additional tasks layered on top of it like the tank does. Not even the healer.

Dragons in world of warcraft dont tank and if they do even try it they die. Dragons literally hide themselves from mortal races eyes unless they absolutely have reasons to intervene and have short lived alliances with mortals of azoroth for a much greater goal which they typically achieve from a distance with magick and by utilizing the races of azeroth as their meat shield.

Why anyone thinks the Dracthyr would just fly into stormwind or ogrimmar and say “HEY LOOK AT ME IM A DRAGON AND I WILL TANK 5 MAN DUNGEONS AND AND RAIDS FOR EPIX BECAUSE IM A DRAGON WHO TRUSTS THE MORTALS OF AZOROTH DAY 1 OF AWAKENING :DDDDDDD!!!” is a literal loon from the moon.

The main problem with adding more tanks is that there are only so many things you can have tanks do before you’re retreading the same design space.

They’re already robbing peter to pay paul, when it comes to tank design. There just isn’t enough design space to add anymore.

I figure I’m one of the (possible) many that will make an evoker just to see what it’s like, but won’t really play it because it can’t tank.
I like to be versatile and swap between all roles. The only way I might play an evoker more than just messing about is if the alt experience is less Shadowlands-esc as far as gearing and progression. With the lack of borrowed power, so far, it stands a chance to be a multi-main expansion for me…but we’ll see.

I agree with that for sure. They would have to get hit with a spark of creativity to make it interesting. Otherwise it’s just a retread.

We have enough classes that can tank, just not enough players that want to put up with the abuse they get when they tank. the tank shortage is a player created problem, not a lack of classes that can tank.

Not speaking specifically to anyone with the rest here, just the player-base in general. Players made this bed, now they have to sleep in it. Don’t like the way it feels? Then lose the attitude.

what lol? every new expansion has people trying the new class DPS tank or healer roles. Ever heard of Raider io ? If the person has a low tank score I wont invite them. has nothing to do with adding a new tank class and new players trying it.What kind of argument is this lol? I really hope the Evoker if they could tank mythic plus would have some experiene under their belt and not just signing up for + 15 dungeons.lol just like any other player tanking. If you are talking about ruining experience for Normal dungeons or heroic because they arel learning to tank it should not matter. Normal/Heroic dungeons are not really that hard to begin with or give you very competitive gear anyways.

Do you not remember DK and DH? tons of people played them and tried to tank realized it was not their thing and went DPS or played another class. just normal play out of things. Like i said before adding a new tank does not ruin the game in anyway at all.

They said no to tank spec, if it does get another spec, it will be ranged dps.

they said unlikely they are leaning more on a ranged dps spec. But It would be cool to have a tank spec, makes no sense why a big scaled dragon does not tank.

That’s not true.

yeah because in lore our characters can tank giants 3000 ft taller then us right? I don’t think lore wise anything really “tanks” 30 mobs at once . Lore wise our characters could die to 30 defias fighting them.

Every dragon we fight in-game face tanks, but okay, Blizz.

Whilst it may not solve the ‘tank shortage’ if thats evne a real thing
One thing it would do is take potential melee out of the pool.

I know (myself included) people that both tank and dps keys whilst tanking raids. Being a range in keys over a melee is a big bonus but balance is not fun

Plus there excuse of ‘its a caster concept’ is bullsht, plenty of other mmos have had very successful caster and/or range base classes that act as a tank its its really fun
