When DF launched, I created an Evoker, then basically forgot about it. I started playing her again today because I wanted to try the way “Soar” works now.
It was going great and I was really enjoying it. Then I came a little too close to a tree and clipped it. The game thought that meant I was landing and took me out of soar.
That was a long fall. (Yes, I know I could have used “Glide” but in the moment, I didn’t think of it because [a] I was so shocked at what was happening, and [b] that character is a like a third or fourth level alt so its buttons are less familiar to me.)
Anyway, it was hilarious and makes me want to play my Evoker more often.

Same! I got my dragon as soon as DF launched but starting to play it more in recent days.

I tried to land on the top of a mountain peak in Forbidden Reach for one of those Dragonscale Expedition banners. Came in too hot, grazed the ground ever so slightly and was taken out of Soar.
I don’t think I’ve ever gone flying across a zone like that before as it shot me into the air in visage form and catapulted me all the way across the Reach. That mountain peak was on the west coast. I landed all the way out on the tiny island off the east coast.
That was a long fall. lol

I totally love the way soar works now. It’s made me fall in love with my dracthyr all over again!
I just wish they weren’t hated on my server more than Vulpera are.

I dunno! I still don’t even understand why Vulpera are hated. At least when Pandaren came out there was a reason. It was a bad reason but still a reason.

Soar is 100x more fun than Dragonriding now! Being that small (relatively) to the smallest DR mount, just makes it feel like you’re going at Mach 4.

Yep. I have mages and DH that fall equally as funnily when they get clipped by things with physics.

Only downside is that the whole “cancel on landing” thing means that gathering is fairly useless on Drac’thyr now. But at least it’s something - I just switched mine from herbalism to enchanting, so it is what it is.

yes its more fun now and i dont like regular dragon flying as much now. I’m just mad the 2 racial abilities dont work anymore so there is two useless abilities.
the changes made me go back and finish the storyline on my envoker since i had stopped on her after the underground part

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. There’s a reason I left that server. The RP is nearly dead and the people that are left get all crazy about Dracthyr and Vulpera… and then wonder why everyone is leaving the RP scene there.

im not at home right now to check. if you go into your spell book and then go to abilities like where mount speed and flying are, you have the original 2 buttons used for soaring. even if you put them on the dragon riding bar you cant use them. no big deal just figured they would have replaced it with something else
Ah. The Racial version of Surge Forward and Skyward Ascent.
Those only function before unlocking Empowered Soaring. Though the third one, Aerial Halt, functions even after so you can have two air-brakes (although the racial version doesn’t inherit the dragonriding perks).
Considering they end up having those two abilities replaced by the Dragonriding abilities, is mostly a non-issue.
Oh that’s actually kinda nifty
Yeah, I would replace the Bronze Timelock with it on the Soar bar because, obviously you can’t land to use the timelock while using Soar.
