This thread is supposed to be a ā€œeverything we know for sure,ā€ not a ā€œlet me tell you what I think we know and add a little bias to factsā€ thread.

So, why not offer corrections? It is stated in the OP that if there is incorrect or missing information just provide a fix and he will update it.

lol i think almost everything in it is factual.

if you have an issue, please state why something is wrong and back it up with a link or some kind of proof.

And when He does offer his opinion (like the beta question) he even makes it obvious

Iā€™m so glad they are giving the choice of using the classic graphics. Iā€™m not just going into Classic to try the game in a different way, but also to be a tourist. I want to see a piece of WoW history recreated as a recent arrival.

I will just be happy to have real talent trees againā€¦please bring old talent trees back to modern WoW tooā€¦

Iā€™m just looking forward to not having the red bars over party members, making it hard to see how many mobs are up.

Need the community to thrive as well.

simple, do not play

Having played from 2006 to 2008 and just started up again, this is great news!

has anyone seen any bugs having to do with duels

Curious as to the server release schedule. Want to avoid playing if they will be releasing too quickly and destroying populated servers.

This is really short sighted IMO. Ill bet all the people who say they are willing to risk dead servers would be the first to quit playing too. Dead servers leave the classic project dead in the water with no one really having anywhere to play.

Point me to the first discussion you can find about an MMO being TOO populated though? The only argument Iā€™ve seen against large servers is ā€œbut they might phase!ā€ which is not really an argument but changing the subject. Large servers donā€™t need to have phasing, and they already said they werenā€™t going to do that anyway.

Ill take a couple of full servers over a ton of empty ones any day. The game is broken when theres no one to play with. This isnt a single player game like BFA has sort of become. Empty servers cannot be an option. They cant be, Vanilla wont work like that. Those empty servers are why Blizz ended up merging like crazy and implementing cross server phasing in the first place. It was to help those empty realms function on a basic level.

You dont have to go 16k per server crazy like private realms but 8-9k would at least mean that even if 2/3 of the people on the server quit playing, you would still have a healthy population.

I definitely donā€™t know what the right number would be, and youā€™re likely right that launching at somewhere higher than vanilla population caps but under 10k could hopefully result in long term stable populations. I was thinking more about the suggestion I quoted of someone hoping for ā€œa couple massive servers per regionā€. 5 or even 10 servers for North America would necessitate tens of thousands of people per server, which I feel like would in turn necessitate sharding in the game long term.

You say that the ā€œbut they might phaseā€ argument is changing the subject, but Blizzard has explicitly stated they are considering using sharding (not phasing) to help mitigate overpopulation at launch. I know sharding and phasing are different, and in general the conversation has focused on sharding. There are multiple threads with people who have raised rational and seemingly valid concerns about the impact sharding could have on the ā€œclassic experienceā€ especially if kept in the game long term. Overpopulation is directly tied to sharding because blizzard said it is, and server population caps will determine how much crowding there actually is. All I was trying to say is that server sizes closer to the levels the game was designed for would be preferable for me because that would be closest to the ā€œclassic experienceā€

The long term die hard players are going to find each other and aggregate on the most healthy servers anyways.
