Everyone should have a path to progress to max ilvl gear, EVERYONE!

Exactly, it’s a pretty nuanced issue. Maybe Torghast can fill that void a little.

Yeah I left shortly after the release of MoP, and came back just recently to get ready for SL.

Really damage mode again. By censoring this op’s comments keep going you’re digging such a big hole for yourself that NO ONE will want to play. Except the raider that log once a week. That spam gold runs to buy tokens, guess what that will dry up too cause no one playing will buy them cause they won’t playing to use them. Good one.

Well,to be honest ,it going to happen anyway.

Literal shower thought for you. What if gear obtained via none raid / m+ none PvP progression had bonuses or was set up in such a way to be more valuable in the content it was acquired from. Eg a maw set that could be acquired / upgraded and gave bonuses that made traversing / playing in the maw easier or more rewarding.

We need to discard the outdated mentality of locking the Stanley Cup behind the NHL, it is archaic and hurts many people, especially casuals who don’t have the drive or talent to get drafted by NHL teams.

Or, you know, replace that by anything else that requires time and skill.

It’s not fair!!!11

This is the most participation trophy type thread I’ve read all year, people want the 1st place reward without earning it.

These same people are gonna be running the country one day, that’s scary…

I think that’s some people’s angle, certainly, and obviously that’s just not something that should happen. But it does speak to blizzard’s recent failure to provide any form of character progression that isn’t just “Get mythic gear from xyz”, while I don’t think we should be handing out participation trophies, that’s a problem that should be solved.

Sweet can’t wait until my bank alt can get top tier gear from checking his mail and buying/sell stuff on the AH!

I view it as layers, then without earning. You play the game as a casual to point ,start your dungeon run progress to mythic s then to raids ,is that so bad? To the raiders it would be too time consuming <

Imo, if players want a solo path for mythic level gear then that path should be as hard or harder than mythic raid progression.

This would mean that the solo path would require a normal, heroic and mythic version to gear accordingly.

Which in my opinion ,this is the wrong path, since casuals take their time to get geared it wouldn’t matter.

Agreed, and I didn’t say that necessarily either. My point is that the long term goals people used to value in WoW have been devalued or phased out and all its really left is this seasonal rush for ilvl.

I’d rather bring back those alternate meaningful goals / rewards / ways to play the game, than add ilvl as a payoff to every activity.

I think the main reason this doesn’t happen is because we’re playing a MMO and the devs design the best gear around group content.

Players need mythic loot to kill mythic bosses or compete at a Gladiator/Rank 1 level. Casuals don’t have this mindset but they do have the gear to clear content they do casually.

To me it just seems they want the best gear for no reason except to just have it, it wouldn’t have value.

The game does feel like a rush for me.
I join raiding guilds that fall apart for different reasons and drama. So I pug the raid.
That means I have to be top of the line to compete against others in queue.
And if one doesn’t timely get AOTC when people start requiring it then it’s even harder.

I don’t like the rush.
It’s exciting when we have time and success, but really frustrating if we don’t.

Personally I see at as people want a meaningful progression path for the content they do / enjoy, and because of how the last few expansions have been designed the only meaningful thing they see is ilvl, so they ask for ilvl.

Other things can, should, and were meaningful in the past.

They want good gear enough if by chance they would want to do higher content. To casual it’s the adventure in the game that’s important not so much the gear, to others it is the rush to be first in competition .

Lord forbid requests.

The path is clear.

However, only a few will be dedicated enough to take that path and stay on course.
