Everyone should get equal gear in PVP

There is only a gear gap for more than a few hours until you cap the character for the week. But if someone starts REALY late season, they can play one hour a day for like 2-3 days and have full honor gear, not all that much less player power then keeping up at the start of the season. Anyone wanting to min/max for the purpose of keeping up with the herd, doesn’t wait weeks to start.

gear gaps effect more than just your character. its a team based game and if you get a green geared healer with 3million hp on your team youre in for a not so fun time

If thats happening to me at 2500MMR somehow the healer earned the ability to get there and Ill make the best of the situation I can.

If it happens in random bgs, too bad so sad, ill just try again next match and still try my best in the match with the low geared healer. Not even a problem in random BGs or EBGs because I don’t get harmed if a match doesnt go well.

Players are allowed to play. If the game has them play with me, I’ve got their back. I dont inspect people’s gear to even know what they have on.

They tried that a couple of xpacs ago.

You know the people who constantly brag about how PvP is purely a skill game? Ans how it was their amazing skill that made them awesome and you not even worth a word on the forums? Those people suddenly turned around and cried and demanded gear progression back.

As it turns out, the overall PvP community in WoW cares only about being able to curbstomp opponents with superior gear or premades. I guess this shouldn’t have surprised anyone.

I can’t speak for other folks, and I’m certainly not on the cutting edge of rated pvp. I just like seeing number go up. Season launch, buy AH crafted pvp gear, number go up, day one earn most of an honor set and some bloody token gear, number go up, next day finish honor set and get conquest gear, number go up. Nearly every play session for weeks you can get embellishments, free weapon, sockets and gems, more gear, enchants, and see and feel your numbers going up.

There lots of logic in the argument that pvp should just be about skill/tactics/strategy. But those like me derive fun from gear progression and customization too.

Wow could, have separate rated and non-rated modes that use templates, or even Hearthstone Brawl style 10 sets of three random skills where folks choose whats going in their spellbook prior to the match for some real chaos. Warriors with iceblock, Mages with Wailing Arrow, it coud be real crazy.

They could even make a pvp mini game where upgrading your wow character during the fight is done like in HoTS based on team progress/points.

But those games already exist. Wow is wow doesn’t mean it cant or shouldn’t change, but if you like pvp with templates it exists in other games. You don’t need to wait for wow to change to what you’d prefer. Variety is the spice of life, play other games too if it suits you.

I think they should, I wouldn’t say presets as blizzard has shown in the past to not really understand how every class and spec works in pvp but having every variation of vers + secondary armor seems fine.

Just make the rewards cosmetic.

Gear is already equalized stop being lazy, play the game and gear will rain.

It’s incredible how many people defend indefensible postures.
The PVE aspect of the game is the one that should force you to strive for gear and upgrade and enchants.
The PVP aspect of the game should be something EVERY casual has the exact same thing from the start without investing time, like Halo (no upgrades of that give any kind of gameplay advantage, ever).
Yet, there are people who fail to see that objetively, that’s better.

This was the best part about GW2. Blizz is lagging behind stuck in a weird limbo of antiquated rpg elements that don’t align with modern pvp gamers.

Never underestimate the selfish nature of pvers and by extension those moderates who require a progression based grind mill divorced from the only one that matters in the most popular and modern pvp games; skill.

You are never going to get through to these people.

It’s doubly bizarre specifically because Blizz are explicitly selling WoWs PvP as an eSport, which implies a generally level playing field (or as best as you can get).

They’ll never achieve full class balance but gearing is definitely an odd barrier. In most competitive PvP games you’re expected to be competitive from the get go - the only acceptable difference between you and someone with more in-game time is cosmetics.

Gearing is easier than ever but it’s not EASY. I came back to WoW after a long time and was confused. You end up just having to template from a high ranked player which just further highlights how asinine gear/stat choices are - unless you want to sim but who the hell is doing that casually?

Even once you’ve got all the correct gear copied from your #1 ranked class (which is artificially time gated in numerous ways) you then have to enchant and gem them, which gets expensive, so you’ll need to grind gold now.

This all works if you’ve been in the game for a while and are gearing up an alt but good luck getting new blood.

No, absolutely not. But its still worth putting in your two cents for the benefit of lurkers interested in seeing outside opinions.

Never now how many people browse any given subject just to feel connected to their favorite hobby, who will see your words and agree wholeheartedly, or even better have their minds changed.

Missing Shadowlands gearing right now.

WoW pvp is simply a mini game that has been gate kept by antiquated rpg progression elements which push zoomers away from even wanting to attempt to invest the time required to play.

What new gamer is going to want to pay a monthly sub then try and figure out addons/ui, pick a class (hope it’s something you enjoy), level through an incredibly confusing experience for any new player with chromie and the million different things us vets are simply used to at this point, hop into pvp knowing nothing with garbo gear and getting slapped by full bis players this late into the season, etc etc etc… They might not even enjoy the class they picked so… time to start over… I think you get the picture.

Allllllllll that or just hop into a free to play game with a vastly larger pvp community, real monetary rewards for going pro, being able to often press play and hop right into the action on an even playing field without weird mmo gear advantages, have a simplistic UI without having to deal with the utter garbo that is addons.

WoW pvp will continue its slow death being mostly a boomer mini game. You mention things like ‘bigger prize pools’ but blizz has absolutely no incentive to do something like that when the money in viewership and engagement isn’t there. Also let’s be real, wow 3v3 is a horrible spectating sport for the most part.

The only way blizz could truly ‘save’ pvp as in bring in new blood is going f2p, removing all the hoops by creating a gw2 instanced area with free max lvl toons + gear + enchants, all on possibly a separate client that limits addons and forces a fairly minimalist UI etc. Even then I don’t know if that would be enough.
