Everyone Just stay on the original Hardcore Realms

I was wanting both HC and Era (Softcore?) TBC Fresh. I enjoy them both; they play completely different. But I was conflicted because I knew they would start at the same time. I was leaning HC because that’s the more challenging/rewarding of the two, but wasn’t sure until the announcement.

No HC TBC made up my mind for me. TBC is my favorite expansion to easily my favorite game, but it is not going to be available for my favorite game mode, because…

Who knows why. The reason they gave was beyond lame. I wouldn’t think it is cost, but maybe that’s it. Bad, horrible, an absolutely deaf decision to not give HC the TBC expansion.

So, I’ll be going Fresh Era but with the long roll out of the phases… I don’t know if I’ll still be around when TBC does finally hit.

Why we need a fresh HC realms?

The HC realms refresh itself!

Ew your name is a massive red flag. No more opinions on this forum please

What if that’s also how long I play? I want to level 1-60, kill Onyxia and Ragnaros and then go play other games. I don’t care if the server is dead after 3 months, I’ll be gone with the streamers. I don’t understand people that play WoW full time. It’s a fun, seasonal game to drop into for a few months on fresh releases.

okay then just do it on the current server why do you need to ruin another server to achieve that? The new server offers literally nothing that current has

Yes it does, it’s fresh. The established servers are very “mature”.

You know what I saw in Tirisfal Glades last week? I saw a level 2 Undead Rogue with a white dagger with Fiery Enchant on it, Minor Speed on boots and +100 health to chest. I’m sure he probably had full bags and gold too. Because that player has a level 60 main on Skull Rock. He’s probably bought a thousand gold. So when he makes a new character, that character is twinked to the gills. Full weapon progression pathway, enchanted. Full consumables. Gold for training and mounts. How is that really “hardcore”? And it’s everywhere.

Once a HC server becomes “established” it’s actually more like a rogue-like game than a hardcore game. Get to 40, send all your gold and materials to be safely kept on a “bank alt” and then, if you die, your next character starts way further ahead than your original one because it has that bank alt to support it. Four or five iterations of this and your new character has everything they could possibly ask for.

Now if Hardcore was purely Self-Found, this would be different. It wouldn’t be roguelike at all. But Blizzard has decided to make this an “option” instead of mandatory, so here we are.

You know what I WON’T be seeing on Nov 21st in Tirisfal glades? A level 10 rogue with two fiery daggers and full bags.

Go away.

P.S. The fresh servers also won’t be ruined by Petri flasks. The new servers are progressive and that recipe didn’t come out until a bit later

it’s hardcore because hardcore is simply 1 death = delete

having gold and fiery and petris and elixirs doesn’t make it not hardcore

who even cares about that… the bad thing they are doing is bringing out phases which does not improve the game at all.

There’s a lot more to Hardcore than perma-death. This comes from the original Iron Man challenge which had quite a few more caveats. And even the original Hardcore addon (which is why we even have official HC servers now) had a ton of additional restrictions on mail, auction house, grouping and even dungeons.

Sorry, I choose to define Hardcore differently than you do based on a mountain of historical context. You won’t change my mind, and I likely won’t change yours.

no, the servers blizzard made has basically nothing to do with the hardcore add-on used on bloodsail and original ‘hc’ unofficial servers

hardcore is simply death = delete, one life, thats what it is, you are talking about SSF HC+

words have meanings haha I don’t know what to tell you

Why do the official hardcore servers have a 24 hour reset on dungeon runs then, sir? Clearly, there is more to hardcore than just death=delete. Paladins cannot bubble hearth. Why is that? If hardcore was, simply, death=delete, why the other changes?

This is also 100% untrue. They were the entire inspiration for Blizzard making this official. Kargoz and friends worked closely with the Classic team to bring them to fruition after the surprise success of the addon and the associated community.

Hardcore is far more than simple perma-death. Sadly, Blizzard has dumbed it down substantially, and now twinked level 12s with 1000 health and end-game enchants are running around and Scholo groups are all chugging Petri Flasks the second a an extra flayer gets aggro’d and we’re all supposed to just accept this is how hardcore should be. It isn’t.

bro… they don’t have forced solo self found, which besides 1 life was the biggest part of the add on lol

Correct. This fresh server was the opportunity to rectify this mistake and they didn’t. Huge ball drop. Also, releasing it at the same time as a fresh, progressive era, Cata Firelands and SoD P6 is a nightmare of player-base dispersion.

This whole announcement is myopic.

no, its not a ball drop

they want as many people to play as possible, if it was forced SSF all the people who are stuck leveling their 20th character to a max level of 35 will instead be stuck at level 20 and quit within a few days

and I can’t even think of a way they could enforce SSF lol

nvm, im 100% sure they couldn’t enforce SSF unless they had 10000000000000000 layers for every single person to play on so no one could ever help them.

Too many Ss. No one in their right mind wants Solo Self Found. But there’s a strong appetite for Self Found. WAY fewer bots due to way less demand for gold buying. No Petri Flasks (unless you invest in like the 275 Alch to use them).

You two need to stop arguing, but yes, a SF server would have made much more sense. It will be nice to not see so many people cheesing the lower levels for a while though.

The phases look really short, with TBC launching late next year, personally I will likely slow roll a few alts towards 60, hopefully at some point before the actual launch they will tell us if TBC will move to WOTLK or not or hopefully stay TBC forever, if it is going to move to WOTLK, I will just abandon them then.

Could very well be both. In 2020 they did “character copies” for TBC. You could either leave your character on the permanent era realm or copy it over to the new TBC realm. They might do the same thing here.

When TBC ends they give you the option of staying on the permanent “museum” TBC realm, or transferring your character to the new Wrath one. Even better, and a monetization option, you’re given a third choice to keep your original character on the permanent TBC realm and PAY to create a “character copy” for the Wrath realm.

This would be just great!

I think thats unlikely, I think the clone project was ultimately a failure, and a lost a lot of money, I doubt they waste the effort on it again. It’s likely cheaper and easier simply to create new “Fresh” servers.

Also from a purely marketing/monetary perspective, they would be better to stop the servers at TBC, then launch a new “Fresh” server going to WOTLK hooking those people who want Wrath for another three years.

People are missing the point here. HC is a very VERY niche community. Blizz wants more people to try HC servers. Blizz decided to release fresh HC alongside fresh Era servers. People have the opportunity to try said HC servers and when they inevitibly die they can just transfer their character to the fresh Era server, problem solved. Blizz got more people to try HC servers.
