My argument is just that the skill cap is higher than the general forum population thinks lol

hardly

fire skill cap is at an all time low right now
esp when you play with an hpal or with a destro

you can position badly, use your blinks badly, and not juke anything and still live a DISGUSTINGLY long time if not forever compared to every other xpac

on top of that the damage takes no thought to put out anymore
3 fire blasts and 2 pyros is 100k damage + the 30k ignite did in the last 5 seconds

you do that every kidney, or randomly off the back of a chaosbolt and you just win

The thing about G-pyro is that it does not require a lot of thought. I would complain less if mages couldn’t shimmer with it. But seeing as they do. It’s the only spell that almost every mage I’ve faced will cast it. When they’re not casting that they will try to poly. When not landing any poly, they will just simply go back to casting G-pyro. A no thought spell with high results is not a fun thing to go up against. Yes training the mage is best bet but face it a mage will get that off no matter what, no matter how bad they play they will survive a killing blow to protect them before they even need to think about ice blocking. I main a MW monk, we are great healers with high mobility but if you catch me in the open with out my trinket, its GG for me. That’s how it should be for mages as well. Be a glass cannon but not a living god till you run out of D Cd’s.

As a mw I agree with this 100%.

So many times I’ve ive died in 2 seconds to rogue mage.

Fire mages just do too much. And no matter what comp I run they are like the tankiest class in the game.

For a split second I had a hope for humanity, this thread obsoletely erased that.

fk playing fire mage when you can play the less OP big brain classes like destro lock, unholy dk, demon hunter, assa rogue, ww monk, frost mage

Let’s not pretend fire mage is harder to play any of those specs, it’s an extremely forgiving spec.

Frost king of tourney play, fire King of ladder.

based on what? because it is a wizard class?

yes generally setup classes require more skill than others but in the case of fire mage being a “go” class with 3 different cc spell schools, instant burst damage on demand, and a ton of defensives doesn’t make the skill cap higher, it makes the skill floor higher.

remember when mages had to actually manage resources and worry about getting locked out on spell casts? pepridge farm remembers

You have a firemage at 120?

a short CD is all that is needed

I’ve played every class in the game except warrior, but when looking up everyone that says “fire mage so ez brain dead class” none of them have tried it, and the ones that have are 1650cr 2000 games played

I’d love to see how you handle dh dk 100% up time on you as a fire mage lol

I’m not saying it’s the hardest class in the game, I’m just saying 90% of the forum is under the assumption it’s the easiest, if you think there isn’t a skill cap, roll a mage and try it out

Classes I believe to be marginally easier to play than firemage at a high level

Warlock
Ele
Hpal
Rdruid
Spriest 8.1.5
Dh
Assa rogue

I do think there’s a lot more to a 2800 dk than a 2200 dk, don’t get me wrong they’re disgusting but a really good one is pressing a lot of buttons
