Even More Interviews That Went Under The Radar (And How)

Working towards atonement, which isn’t quite the same as redemption, and with no guarantee of it and with it not likely to happen any time soon. Revendreth is still punishment, and some souls there spend aeons sorting out their sins. Sending her soul directly to the Maw is bad idea logistically if doing so gives the Jailer a power up and makes it harder for us to deal with him. Frankly, I strongly suspect that Uther doing so with Arthas may have resulted in a lot of trouble for the same reason.

Edited to add: I agree with you in that I don’t think this interview indicates a redemption arc. I just don’t consider being sent to Revendreth to be redemption.

I dont either, its merely a chance for her to have a better afterlife not 100% guaranteed

I say wait until the raid comes out. Because I get the feeling everyone is going to be disappointed. We’re all sitting here assuming she’s coming out of this raid alive and we don’t know if Tyrande or anyone else will be involved in the fight with her.

The only thing we for know for a fact, is the dev team said it’s going to have an affect on the Shadowlands. So take that as you will.

Lets just focus on the good stuff! we get to beat up anduin some time!

Yeah… well saurfang got his even if i didnt wanted, there is that pesky trope of “redemption equals death” i can totally see them pulling a darth vader.

or it could be just a tragic end for her like arthas.

i wouldnt like it either way i think i may skip this raid tier if i cant beat up anduin.

i only know i saw something about him changing because of this experience, if anything they already foreshadowed his use of void magic.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, FINALLY someone else than i said it! i was beggining to think i was crazy and the only one that knew that those words werent interchangable.

You really misinterpreted Christie’s point, and this interview kind of proves the point with this line:

“…We know there’s a lot of players that really want her to face justice, while others just want their queen back, but there’s a lot of twists and turns yet to come.”

Paraphrasing obviously but Christie said players are mad at X (which is Sylvanas being redeemed) or Y (Sylvanas dying) but there are many letters in the alphabet.

I have no idea where the story is going and obviously Blizzard gaslights like crazy, but I’m assuming this means something will happen in the end of 9.1 that makes both questions irrelevant.

Because Danuser loves her.

At this point I no longer care what they will do with her so long it’s the last expansion they Focus on her. No more Sylvanas cinematics. PLEASE.

The only “surprise” then was that Blizzard actually thought they were fooling anyone with who would burn Ted, when one of the first images of it was Sylvanas standing in front of a burning Teldrassil.

That, and that they’d be stupid enough to do it in the first place.

This thread is a great example of the story forums negative bias. The interview literally says that Sylvanas won’t be excused and that she’s guilty, yet people read into that as her being redeemed. This is the most blunt Blizzard has ever been. Sylvanas isn’t getting a redemption unless her character gets massively changed, like getting cured of her undeath or somesuch. I know too that sometimes Blizzard is dishonest but if they lie in the interview there’s no point in complaining about it until the lie happens.

Going to take it you weren’t here for Pre-patch BfA? Cause Blizzard had a lot to say about things back then and guess what? They more or less lied through their teeth.

You’ll forgive us if we take whatever they say now with a tub of salt after how badly we were burned from all their previous lies.

I was here then. BFA has a lot of discrepancies from what looks like a change of plans, and how Sylvanas burned the tree might be one of them. We can complain about that because it happened. If you want to complain about something else, complain about them confirming no more customization being added in Shadowlands. They directly lied about that.

Because, again, the idea given by Danuser ends with:

And to repeat myself again:

He said that because that’s what everyone has been talking about with a Sylvanas redemption. People have been assuming she’s going to go against the Jailer and be redeemed because of that. He’s directly addressing a point people have been worried about. You’re doing mental gymnastics. Or you’re illiterate.

And his response to that point was “It’s not as simple as that”.

He didn’t just say, “This is not the story we are telling”

He said, “It’s not as simple as that”.

Because if Sylvanas were to be redeemed it wouldn’t be as simple as that, like they’ve done in the past. They aren’t going to make Sylvanas like Grom. Grom killing Mannoroth was simple. As I mentioned, if she gets redeemed it’s going to be because her character gets massively changed.
Not because some poster is telling me the sky is yellow when it’s blue.

How could anyone, especially a dev who loves her, think this storyline was good for Sylvanas?

I hate this because they basically made Delaryn Summermoon the next Sylvanas in BfA, and Sylvanas is her Arthas… but I guess they are throwing that out because they gotta make sure they get more Anduin into the story!
