Essence Font was a great way to heal the whole party, since Restoral/revival is on such a long cool down. But on top of that, it was my backup for if I couldn’t get another Faeline down to trigger Ancient Teachings, or if I didn’t want to risk not getting a proc to reset CD of faeline.
The way it’s looking Faeline being the ONLY way to grant ancient teachings, keeping up the buff up will be much more difficult, especially with a tank or boss that keeps moving.
This is what Chi Burst is for, to reset the cooldown of FLS.
I really am so sick of this game being changed around PvP
you’re not wrong, but it’s hit or miss. Single target encounters it doesn’t do well with.
I hate essence font. Glad it’s removed.
If it helps any the Conduit tree is looking pretty good on Beta. The ability is basically another cooldown, doing significant aoe healing, and can be combined with things like Secret Infusion’s stats boosts and Sheilun’s Buffs. I replaced my Essence font bind with Celestial Conduit and it kinda feels similar enough to use, though it’s taking a bit to get used to not pressing EF as often.
I am very on the fence about the animation of floating around in meditation stance but it’s whatever. I wish Conduit would just throw out essence font like bolts instead of the derpy animation they came up with. ( at least it looks derpy on my pandaren )
Finding I don’t miss EF in dungeons as much though, vivify and cleave healing is pretty impactful and seemed to have been buffed to match, having 3 charges of RenMist is nice - it is extremely easy to keep RenMists up on everyone even without the Rising Mist talent. If things get bad we have multiple cooldowns to deal with things. ( Celestial, Conduit, Sheiluns, Revival )
What I can see of the celestial tree is kinda meh to me. However the Harmony one I’m looking forward to as a fistweaver. If Conduit could add another means of refreshing Ancient Teachings, then I think it might have weight to my choice. It does seem overall Fistweaving is getting a buff, but requires more melee action to keep healing though. EssFont was a decent AoE heal for when I couldn’t get up close.
I honestly haven’t looked at the Harmony Tree much myself because it was a bit too heavy on the fistweaving talents and the whole storing vitality and unleashing it didn’t really sound fun to me playstyle wise. Reminds me of Cloudburst totem or that trinket from Tyr in Dawn. There are some talents in that tree that REALLY interest me: The extra tft charge would be fun and Roar from the heavens too would be super epic.
Im glad they are going one Hero Tree more Fistweaving/Jadefire friendly and one that is more or less just for more pure healing stuff. Options and different sub specializations are good and they keep the spec interesting imo.
I was speaking as a non FW/Non-Jadefire Stomp user. ( Incase anyone was wondering how it felt without essence font on the beta, or if they were missing EF. ) Sorry if there was any confusion. :3
I do like when there can be multiple builds that can be considered viable and play drastically differently! I enjoy Fistweaving, It’s not for everyone, but it’s my favorite way to be a healer!
YES!!! more choices more options.
Many want builds that even if they are not end-game min/max they can be fun to play. This means they don’t have to be balanced for power but can be balanced for fun. No need to fuzz over things that won’t be used at max levels so let players enjoy the skills and build that fit them on the lower end of things for FUN!
It’s like that song from the Disney movie Pete’s Dragon from decades past.
( highly recommend listening. It has a good message, minus the last two lines of the “full” song for obvious reasons)
There’s room for everyone in this world
If everyone makes some room
Won’t you move over and share this world
Everyone make some room
No, it isn’t. You throw it at your group and 99.8% of the time you get a reset.
I can count only 3 times I didn’t get a reset from using it across multiple raid tiers and different group sizes from 5 → 25+, so it’s extremely rare you don’t get one from Chi Burst.
Sure maybe in raids when you have a bunch of targets to trigger, but 5-man dungeons, unless they’re all melee on the boss, it doesn’t always work.
No, it does. You’ll almost never not see a reset. Wide angle and hitbox, affects both party and enemies and pets.
I agree. This should have the feral druid treatment. Build around bear or build around cat with little overlap. Fistweaver and mistweaver need some sort of separation if only for balance issues on both sides.
Fistweaving is indeed fun. especially in 2v2 arena with a strong melee partner
Feral Guardian split occured during a time where talents were simplified, and made a lot more sense to split them up, that and one is DPS and the other is Tank specs.
Even though I’m not the biggest lover of Holy Trinity, the design of WoW requires it. And to have two separate roles in the same tree would make it difficult for all the defined systems like party finder. MW and FW are both healing specs however.
Would I like to see a split? Absolutely! But I can see Blizzard less likely to do so, since both are healing specs. At the very least, would like them to make the tree have more clearly designed paths for one or the other. Some fist weaving I have to go towards the right side, even though most are on the left… but one could argue that it gives a matter of choice and intrigue to have a mix up.
point well taken
It seems, after reading wowheads latest news report, that the pre-launch build is on it’s way. With what little hope many, including myself, had for saving Essence font in any way shape or form is gone.
A beloved spell that has become, for many, a core piece of mist-weaving and fist-weaving is about to fade into the pages of history.
From it’s inception it was regarded as peculiar and at times mocked for not being spam-able or as strong as the old renewing mist uplift/vivify combo. Over time, However, it worked it’s way into becoming iconic as an effective tool for healing monks in their kit as well as visually stunning for the creative design elements that went into it.
it became a staple, for some, for it’s utility of it’s mastery interaction, its functionality of being instant, cast-able while moving, distributing healing effectively be it in 5 man, raids, or battlegrounds to any who were injured. This became loved for it’s advantageous use of healing on the move which many healing specs envied.
This spell with surely be one that many a monks who had the opportunity to play with it will miss and lament it’s passing…
It really is a terrible change and disheartening that blizzard listened to a bunch of whiners and removed it.
People actually want to play something other than fistweaving?
