my nose has been out of joint since they removed “eminence” heals from crackling jade lightning…now EF; I use it all a time, and it sits well with a mistweaving rotation.
sometimes it seems like they just want to make it near to impossible to succeed (looks at my mana bar). see what I mean?
To each their own, I think losing those 2 were huge Ws so far
Talents for mw are out. At least the first iteration of changes. As well as the mastery changes and a few skill changes. I feel that the class and spec design are merging well and going in an interesting direction. Design wise, I’m fairly happy with what I am seeing, I’m eager to test it in beta at least.
They do seem to be keeping an eye out for us from what we see on their initial post for mw: Feedback: Monk Updates - #4 by Kaivax
I wish blizzard would just admit their plan is to phase out the caster/hybrid build and are going full fistweaver so those of us who hate that play style can get some closure and move on.
There are many who have said they should just split the exiting tree in two so that the monk would have 4 trees matching with the 4 celestials. Honestly that would help the balancing issues, mistweavers get what they want, and fistweavers get a tree all to themselves
Yeah Ive said they should split them too. It’s always met with resistance, saying blizzard would never be able to flesh each one out separately.
A more caster heavy build still looks like it will be solid from what they’ve released.
And them randomly throwing out the peaceweaver talent sure isn’t them “phasing out” a more casting build.
I love Essence Font and used it often. I liked the way it looked and it helped top off multiple team-mates. I really hope we don’t lose it and goes baseline.
Essence font is the most iconic spell in the whole kit. It’s a great spell and they are crazy for even trying to remove such a core ability. It’s one of, if not THE most unique spell a MW has to set it apart from playing other healers.
I would never play fistweaving. I play healer because I despise DPS. It’s not fun to me chasing a boss and punching it. I play a healer because I want to heal.
So I specifically rolled a fist weaver for Dragon Flight because I liked the toolkit. EF is a major part in the toolkit and the feel of the class. I have found it really useful in the fist weaving toolkit. If I were out of range of a target and there were multiple people that needed topping it was a great tool to have. Also great for moving and phase changes. Not to mention I genuinely found it a fun button to hit and this change would really make me think twice about keeping the class in my regularly played roster going forward. I really hope this spell survives in some form. It would be a great loss to the kit. IF things are getting too meta or getting out of hand nerf the numbers, not the fun.
With the announcement of TWW release date I am fearful Essence Font may not be returning as things stand today… Such an iconic heal they introduced many years ago, just to be pulled/gutted entirely and not even left as a weaker choice node or talent players could take as a play-style preference.
It’s gone from the beta so I don’t think it’s coming back.
Still on the fence about this one. Most of MW still feels similar though.
I liked EF in raids, kinda disliked it in m+. As long as we get some kind of buff/compensation to offset the loss of the extra healing from EFx2 gusts / mastery I don’t mind. Plus it is one less button to press to “set up”.
Celestial Conduit seems kinda fun and should be good healing every 1.5 min - but the animation is kinda boring imo.
Essence Font was a beautiful animation and was a staple for AoE healing alongside ReM Viv cleave for a long time before Ancient Teachings took the spotlight.
It’s too bad the design and balance team is so bad at their job they couldn’t keep the hard work the team put into creating it.
Haven’t seen you around the forums in a while. I always enjoyed seeing your take on the state of MW.

Same, it was always nice to see someone’s take who didn’t participate in the fights about specs but still actually knew what the talents did and how to get the most out of whatever you chose.
Well im just now reading into this stuff and found out about this. I’ve been playing monk for 6 years and essence font has always been one of my favorite spells. This honestly kills it for me a bit. They already gutted the crap out of druids and now its starting here it seems.
They have been ‘gutting’ specs since TBC though. That’s the price to pay for the specs to evolve 
Monk is my 6th main since vanilla. Been at it for a few years and quite a few more as my main alt before that too.
With how they massacred my precious boys, I feel they’re going very easy on mw (that’s my opinion ofc)
I’m very much the opposite. If they were to split the trees, that would be best of both worlds, you can play a more dedicated healer. I myself however much prefer the idea of Healing -as- I dps. people say Discipline Priests are the same, but they’re not. There’s too much upkeep of Atonement. So I stick to Fistweaving. Ideally I would love Windwalker to have the option of -some- of Fistweaving’s healing, but more focus on the DPS, with some support to the main healers.
