Truthfully.
If a MMO had ESO’s horizontal gear progression, Evergreen content, high quality voice acted quests, and housing system…mixed with WoWs combat system and raid/dungeon design, it would be an amazing MMO

Microsoft is said to be eying Square Enix so it is indeed possible…
Once Microsoft has all big MMOs they can combine the RPGs into one and have all of Microsoft’s Multiverses(WoW, StarCraft, Diablo, Halo, Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, World of Mana, Dragon Quest, etc.) be part of one bigger Multiverse!
Gameplay would depend on which sort of Account you are paying for for the sake of the Customers’ convenience.
Microsoft is very generous with the Banjo Kazooie IP so once it gets it’s paws on Square Enix expect to see Geno shoved into Super Smash Bros!
Of course someone in Microsoft might consider ordering Nomura to shove Elementals of each of WoW’s Cosmic Forces into Kingdom Hearts just cause they can!
Master Chief solely uses Bullets and Forerunner Tech. How is that going to make him capable of handling Raid Bosses?!
The Raid Bosses of WoW are even harder than any of Halo’s Bosses to say the least! Master Chief was casually stomped by Didact! How is he going to handle all the Raid Bosses of WoW by himself?!

Square Enix denied having considered selling the Company and also denied receiving offers from anyone wanting to buy. That doesn’t mean that Microsoft isn’t eying the Company just that they haven’t made any offers as of yet.
As for why they wouldn’t right now: Microsoft is clearly busy buying Activision Blizzard at the moment so until it is done any plans to send out offers to Square Enix are on hold.
Buyouts require patience and are done one at a time not all at once! You don’t get to become one of the Richest Companies in the USA by being reckless you know!

ESO will never merge with WoW.
ESO is inferior beyond comprehension.
But it does have player housing while Blizz doesn’t. So that could be either a good thing for some or a bad thing for others if Blizz read ESO’s notes on player housing and decided to add it in.
And at least ESO doesn’t limit race-class combos.

It’s a race between Companies to make an impressive enough Buyout Offer first in otherwords.
Either one would have to make an impressive offer to make Square Enix even consider selling! They haven’t made any offers at all at the moment which means we don’t know the amount of Money that would make Square Enix consider selling itself!
Sony gaining Square of course grants Hasbro some level of access(for Toys and TV Shows) since Hasbro has done business deals with Sony(like say the MLP Movies) in the past.
Microsoft gaining Square gives WoW access to Kingdom Hearts as well as World of Mana/Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger Locales as well as potentially lead to the creation of a World Editor for World of Mana, Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger!
