Error Guild Name Change

I’ve had this error on my character Herculean for like two months now and it says Error Guild Name Change in red. Then it says Error. An error was encountered. Please come back later. So I’ve waited a very long length of later and nothing has changed.

I’ve tried stuffing my ticket with keywords to expedite it. There’s been so many cuts to Blizzard CS’s channels of communication over the years that it’s become increasingly difficult to get the support I need in a reasonable amount of time.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this server side issue fixed on my own so that I can get on with what I want to do?

(I think I’ll just rename a different character. Maybe someday I will have waited enough later for it to resolve itself.)

Have you opened any tickets about this issue yet? Tickets are typically answered in 24 hours, often less, and there’s really no need to wait for months on end before seeking help.

I would use this link https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/167/ticket i wouldn’t jam the ticket with keywords as that could be confusing and won’t help expedite anything but the purchase failure category is usually prioritized.

Adding “keywords” isn’t something that escalates tickets. Maybe like a decade or more ago, that was a thing for very specific situations (which when abused would result in account actions), but now there are actual ticket options which, when necessary, automatically provide the proper escalation.

No, there hasn’t been. In fact, there haven’t been any “cuts” to CS since 2012. Since then, there has been nothing but growth in CS as well as additional options added to help streamline support.

As for your issue, this actually tends to be a browser issue or computer security issue. You’ll want to try a different browser, ensure that you’re not using any sort of pop-up blockers or security software that might be blocking the transaction. Try disabling any security software temporarily, or try a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc.) and see if that helps.

I see 2 tickets submitted in the past 60 days regarding guild names. Both tickets were requests to have inactive guild names released for use. Both tickets resulted in those guild names being made available for use, and I see those guild names currently in use by characters on your account.

I see you opened a ticket regarding a name change for one of your characters. And I also see you made several updates to your ticket over the course of about 10 minutes, then canceled it about an hour later. Please understand that when you cancel a ticket, you remove it from the queue and a Game Master will never see it or respond to you.

Attempting to bypass others in the ticket queue won’t work. Generally speaking, tickets are handled in the order they’re received. You may feel your issue is important, but so do all who are seeking help.

This is not true. Your first guild name ticket was answered approximately 5 hours after you opened it. Your second guild name ticket was answered in less than an hour.

It’s true that ticket times can fluctuate based on current events such as patches, and raid launches. But to say we haven’t helped you within a reasonable amount of time is a bit of a stretch here - especially considering your requests for assistance were purely cosmetic and had no impact on your ability to play the game/access specific characters.

To respond to the concern in your canceled ticket though:
I’m not currently seeing any pending services on the character you’ve indicated. If you’d like some help troubleshooting this further, I’d recommend opening a new support ticket and leaving it open until you receive a response.

You can submit your ticket here, under the Payments > Purchase Failure category, and describe what you’re experiencing. Including screenshots may help to identify what exactly you’re running into.
