Hello all,

Having issues opening Wow starting today, didn’t have this issue when I logged in over the last weekend.

This application has encountered a critical error:

Error #0 (0x85100000) Assertion Failure

Then app crashes.

I have tried, updating my graphics drive (GTX 1660TI), disabling my firewall and even reinstalling WOW. Nothing seems to help, I also uninstalled what few addins I had. Seems to be some issue with my graphics card. It should be using my GTX 1660TI primarily, though I do have a built in Intel graphics as well.

Any advice appropriated.

Same issue, same NVIDIA Driver, ran fine last night, was able to raid. Tonight keeps crashing when I try to launch.

Turns out that changing the game to run DirectX11 instead of 12 works for me, no idea why DirectX12 wouldn’t work. Might be related to something they did yesterday.

Reference here for changing to directX11.

I’m seeing reports that this Error 0 may be caused by an Audio update. Does that fit the bill for any of you?

Im dealing with the same issue but changing it to directx11 doesn’t help me

I’m getting this error as well. I did have some audio update like Tratt mentioned and now I can’t login. Any updates???

Update: I changed to d11 and it works again as well

I honestly don’t know a pop up saying it needed to restart for an audio update appeared and I restarted my comp and then it gave me the same error as mentioned above.

That looks like a Windows update. Perhaps Asus A-Volute - does that ring any bells. Do you have Asus Sonic Studio installed.

In my case it was Nahimic A-Volute.

Edit: Just checked the logs on security software and it’s constantly blocking Nahimic every few minutes. This is just small part of the log.

i can confirm my audio update was the issue. nahimic was terminated and this resolved it. but i want to know why and how to fix this because i like nahimic. i am assuming it has a valid purpose to the computer

Was playing WoW just fine, got a pop up to restart my computer for an audio update, now it’s crashing constantly.

I had the same problem after install the new audio driver. My MOBO is MSI (Nahimic)

I fixed changed from DX12 to DX11.

For those of you having problems with Nahimic, just go to task manager and exit the Nahimic processes. This is a work around until an update is pushed by whomever broke it. I would also disable it in your gaming software if it is managed there (MSI Dragon Center for me)

I’m back in the game and I didn’t need to change Direct X or uninstall Nahimic, which I would rather keep.

Hard to say what is happening with Nahimic/A-Volute and the game. Blizzard is aware of the issue.

I’m getting the exact same issue, I played until early this morning and then had an audio update, I installed it and went to bed. Woke up this morning and tried to get on, and I’m getting this exact same crash issue.

It is not just WoW, Doom BFG Edition was crashing due to Nahimic as well as Doom, Wolfenstein and ARK Survival Evolved. Oh well, I did get rid of addons and only reinstalled the ones I wanted to keep as well as uninstalling WoW and reinstalling on my larger new SSD. Frustration breeds much needed clean up and disk space optimization. :slight_smile: In the end all it needed was uninstalling Nahimic, apparently an issue with it and DX12 enabled games.
