we have them, they are called battlegrounds. warfronts are to give the player the experience of being a peon in a RTS while throwing them some catchup gear.
because its just 3v3 with BS npcs in the way, might as well go do 3v3 and at get a lot more CP. not to mention that IE’s suck in general, here AoE some trash for a little bit, ooh fun eh?
Ironically this is the expansion that killed PvP for me, end game PvP at any rate. I still log on a few nights a week and que up bgs on a twink just to scratch that alli-killin itch, but end game is so trash right now.
All they’d have to do to make me come back to 120 PvP, and I know the same is true for many of the people I play with, is add back in PvP gear with resil/pvp power and vendors.
For the life of me I cannot understand why they changed that formula that worked so well for so long. It’s like after they got rid of the misguided templates of Legion, which did legitimately remove the need for PvP gear, and just forgot to add back in a good PvP gearing system. Then they tacked on this half-baked conquest system we have now and called it a day.
To me the gearing is the core of the issue with PvP atm. I don’t want to have to do islands every week, emissaries every day, world bosses every day/week, AFKfronts every other week or so, M+ every week for the cache, etc… all to keep up with my gear for PvP. Sure you can in theory only play PvP and only get geared from conquest, but your character would objectively be behind someone doing all of that stuff. That feels super bad, either I am consciously nerfing myself or I am forced into all this tedious PvE crap. Neither one feels fun, so I have just given up on end game.
Scaling replaced templates, the only difference is that you have to care about your stats now instead of just max ilvl.
Versatility and defensive azerite traits replaced resilience and pvp power while working better than both overall.
translated:
@blizzard, i don’t want to have to earn my gear, it should be given to me in the manor of my choosing at my choosen time and location. p.s. this doesn’t apply to anyone else, i clearly earn my gear, don’t give those scrubs welfare epics, they need to earn them.
When I did end game PvP i did mostly rated BGs, when you’re quing up with 9 other people for rated PvP you want to have your toon as geared as possible.
Sure I probably could get away with not doing any of it, would be harder to find groups and stuff but I could probably do it, but it wouldn’t feel good… knowing that I am not as powerful as I could be and am potentially hurting my team because of it.
I want vendors back. With conquest points that you earn from rated PvP… I don’t want anything handed to me.
IMO one of the biggest issues was removing resil/pvp power. That made it so there was distinctly different sets of best gear for PvP and PvE. Someone who PvPd alot, got lots of honor and conq, would be geared the best for PvP, but not for PVE, and vice versa. Whey they added templates gear is just gear, which made sense at the time, now though they got rid of those and didn’t add back in PvP only stats, so now to get as geared as possible you have to PvE… or fall behind. It’s just reality… there is a reason top PvPers all do M+ and raids every week… they don’t want to, most of the streamers I watch at least hate it, but you have to do it if you want to keep up with gearing.
but you earn CP from rated pvp, a lot faster than randoms too. rated pvp also drops gear with ilvl appropriate for your rating. high level rated pvpers are sitting 400-410+ ilvl.
play the game and you will get gear, maybe not when and where you want it exactly, but you will get geared eventually. if you want to get geared faster, do more content. having a hissy fit over having to do pve content is just silly, you already pay for that content, you might as well at least experience some of what you are paying for.
edit, also, the argument that you shouldn’t have to do pve to pvp is also silly, in RL i have to get a job to buy parts to mod my car to make it faster, i don’t win car parts from racing. this model is also fun, when PVE is the gear source and PVP where you use that gear, then you don’t need to get upset at much when you lose or don’t get your gear as when you are depending on that match. it makes pvp much more fun and relaxing.
LOL who’s having a hissy fit? I’ve just stopped playing end game, and slowed down on the game in general… dude just made a thread explaining his issues and I agreed with him.
Why are you so quick to jump down my throat and tell me how wrong I am for not loving BFA?
this is still true though, you just aren’t putting enough effort into the game to flesh it out. i have multiple sets currently, several for pve, several for pvp depending on how i want to stack azerite and if i want to go full haste, or stack some vers.
the reason versatility is the replacement for resilience is that it provides benefits outside of pvp, if you only have pvp gear and wanted to run a raid, even a resilience stacked pvp gank god would get laughed at for his pitiful dps. versatility at least gives you damage gains for pve making your gear more versatile, and you not useless in a 5 man.
