Epic Gear is meaningless

Just before. IQD

You could always stop playing n unsubscribe.

People so mad about the color of their gear text.

Epic gear has always been meaningless since the start of expansions.
Seriously, how many ā€œEpicā€ pieces of gear survive a new expansion?

It is and always has been.

One of the least discussed downfalls of WoWā€™s overall appeal is gear value.

There was a time, your BiS would last you months, if not longer in an expansion. When WoW switched to gear being disposable and replaceable (Diablo style), I really do think that led to some players moving on to other games. That was a key element to the RPG aspect, your toonā€™s (personal) quest to get a certain gear upgrade and have it be meaningful and lasting.

Gear is only as meaningful or meaningless as you make it. That said, if your ego is dependent on what color the text on your gear is, maybe you need to take a break from the game and reassess some things in your life.

And in that time, players became bored and complained about the lack of content. Now they push patches faster than they can finish them.

Also, every patch that came with a new raid killed your BIS gear. How good was that MC gear after Nax came out? Yup, itā€™s been this way from the beginningā€¦

I think itā€™s not the gear, itā€™s just that thereā€™s no Stormwind square or Orgrimmar valley to show it off at, figuratively speaking. Everything is sharded and thereā€™s no feeling of being a ā€œlocal heroā€ so to speak. Youā€™re placed together with folks from populated realms and nobody cares.

Thatā€™s why I think a lot of side progression is not popular in retail. Because community aspect doesnā€™t matter and itā€™s a lot more fun to just concentrate on personal numbers.

And also I think why gear feels unimportant is because the game is old and the portion of experienced players that hit BiS is much higher. A lot of people do max mythics and everybody just sort of sits at the top of gear progression, so reaching that level is nothing special and being below that level feels uneventful.

Iā€™ve been thinking about people who care about the text color of other peopleā€™s gear, who base their own self-worth on having purple text on their tooltips while others donā€™t. I think they are in the minority. But clearly people like you are being pandered to, if your meme is that ā€œIā€™m the only one in the game who deserves epic gear.ā€ Odd that you posted on a level 63, who wouldnā€™t deserve epic gear.

Why do have nots start threads whining about other have nots?

People disagreeing with you isnā€™t trolling.

It would be better to have fewer rewards, but more meaningful rewards when obtained. Having too many progression paths just dilutes the value of each individual path and everything gets reduced to: the path of least resistance.

yes they did most of the tier sets dropped from mobs
and the skullflame shield was from mobs and in dungeons
