Epic Gear is meaningless

What is annoying is the better gear isn’t even useful due to how blizz changed things.

In legion they where cause with a 1 for 1 ilvl scaling to mobs in the world so your gear you where getting didn’t do anything. That was nerfed fast cause people where pissed. But whos to say they haven’t snuck it back in.

You can’t solo anything out in the world cause they need to make it “dangerous”. We have content for that already. Instance content. I know they wanted to bring back the classic difficulty feel but they are far to late for that and bringing it back and shoehorning it in feel bad. The current system of DDR button mashing isn’t like how it was in classic where your auto attacks did the work and then you hit a skill. In classic getting flametongue was a big difference. Now its just a tickle.

I mean if thats what ya want then try out classic. Its exactly as you described and will meet all your gearing needs.

as far as mob scaling in the world, im fairly certain it hits a max cap. it doesnt scale indefinitely so you can still out gear it… at least after they had fixed it.

as far as leveling a character thats appropriately geared vs one who was basically heroic raid ilvl from shadowlands, you are very much over geared vs the mobs.

Achievements and parses are what matter. Who cares what color your gear is?

Well when the big patch came out they jacked up the health of all mobs to compensate for the higher ilvl. How do we take their word as truth when they have lied so many times before? I doubt there is a cap unless there is data out there for it.
Trying to get a lot of people to run tests on this is difficult unless a guild does it.

Purple items stop being meaningful the moment you could enter MC.

Ilvl has been king for a while.

When you swapped out your first hard earned Vanilla blue or purple for a quest green in Hellfire Peninsula, you learned that times had changed.

It reminded of when, just after BC launched, the Guild ran our weekly Zul Gurub raid. Pretty sure I was just 61 at that point. We walked up to the first boss, ran around beating on it, pretty sure we even wiped on the first run.

Anyway, we finally downed the boss and I got, like 7 XP. “7 XP? That’s it? WTH am I doing here when I can be bonking boars or collecting mushrooms instead!” And I never went back.

Game moves on.

After almost 20 years and the equivalent of at least 140 levels of character development, everyone should embrace the purple.

You didn’t seriously expect to keep all the gear you got in vanilla when you moved into BC? Geez life must be pretty rough with that mindset.

To be fair, in these forums you can pull the bait and just slap the water wirh your fishing rod and still get bites.

Purple is still better than Blue, which is still better than Green. What are you even talking about?

Your focus on raids and rated PvP, omits M+, which has become the most popular of the “three pillars of end-game content.” per Blizzard’s own poll (albeit forum polls should be taken with a big shovel of salt). I do think that Raid lockouts should be modified to be on par with the gearing rate for M+, but your statement makes me think you’re just salty that people can reach 447 by doing just M+. I’d also guess you only like to Raid and don’t bother doing M+ (hard to tell when you don’t post on your main).

Wasn’t that always the case? Just “back in the day” it was only raiders getting that max ilvl. Now, with all tracks of gear upgradeable and a pinnacle ilvl of 447/450, you still have something to work for as long as you like Raid, M+, or rated PvP. The Game Director has indicated he wants to bring higher difficulty open world content to a future expansion so even the solo players have a path to max ilvl.

If you like the way things were back in the day so much, why not consider playing Classic? Retail seems to have evolved to a place you don’t enjoy.

well, now that i got everyone here. who wants to go play golf

The real end-game is transmogs and mounts, things that will never go away till the game does. People chasing gear for gear’s sake are… yeah…

That welfare reference people always make. Yikes.

I literally pay real money and play this game for literal HOURS. I can have shinies and it isn’t some kind of handout.

I’m not entitled to the highest ilvl gear unless I clear the highest level content, but getting to purchase some low-level epics by playing the game? It’s fine.

Don’t even try to change my mind.

Would you be happy if the gear had green or blue text, but the same item level and budget? The concept of epics died out when Cataclysm came out and the dev team used purple text to describe where the gear came from.

In an effort to combat low level twinking, blizzard adjusted gear to be largely meaningless.

They sure showed those twinks.

Classic came out again in 2018 and purples meant absolutely nothing about three months in.

You don’t. I finally am able to leave this bs game behind. For all you know the fights are a single roll win / lose and the battle animamations are just fluff pretending to be a fight.

When they got caught trying to sneak it in in legion, the imp said they thought no one would notice, then players started testing ttk’s and removing gear made for a quicker fight.

Even the game’s producer apologized for that., but the imp doubled down like he always does on bad ideas and here we have a world with only an illusion of progression, scaling destroys any true progression.
