Look, look.
I’ve been doing a LOT of Epic BGs lately. A lot. Don’t know why, just been in the mood for them.
And I’ve been having a blast in about 80% of the games. The more I do them, the more fun I’m having.
I had a Wintergrasp that I almost wish I had recorded it. We almost took SR as the team on defense, but ended up losing it. The game was a tug of war for siege bases from there.
We lost the first wall in the first few minutes, but we had a team taking down towers.
They were through the next wall with 10 minutes left.
With 7 minutes left, there were no walls left and just the final gate. It was a frantic, brutal game, where a third of both raids are dead at any given moment. Both teams had coordination, call outs, strong heals and damage.
The game ended with the final seal nearly destroyed, more sieges and demos coming and half the team dead, but it ended just in time for the win. It was beautiful. Reminded me of how great WG works when it works. There was plenty of toxic people along the way and people simply ignored them and told them to be quiet and everyone else kept playing.
I did 300 million damage to sieges/demos… As an evoker. A preservation evoker. And I never got into a turret. I think a lot of other players were making similar plays and efforts on both teams.
My point?
You’re going to have bad games. That’s just where the game is, a game where the product of an experience is so much more valuable than the experience itself for SO MANY.
But there are great games out there still. I promise. Try to let the bad ones go and focus on doing what you can do to make every game fun.
Now, let me tell you about my new Alterac Valley strategy where I run the enemy team in the fields as a Pres Evoker with every defensive up and hold 20 people in place for 45-60 seconds…
