Now call me old school but i played all through of TBC and on a few << >> tbc pservers over the years and ive never seen people so stuck in one strategy before.
When did this idea of only pushing 3 towers and ignoring mid become the concrete meta that holding a 2-2 with flag caps is basically viewed as stupid?
I almost never remember doing a 3-1 unless unless we were overpowering them in team fights.
Now the meta is force a 3-1 and if you fail keep doing that for 10 minutes while failing and lose the game or immediately give up because a 3-1 didnt work and let them win.
How about try defending a 2-2? and gain mid control and cap flags?

because capping a flag with 1 base does essentially nothing, and its usually a much easier strat

i feel like holding 2 bases is much easier than holding 3.
Easier meh, usually what happens is the second outside base just has less people than the 3rd base we’re trying to assault so they just keep rotating to our weaker base and we eventually lose it for a 2-2 or they pin us in an everlasting fight at the 3rd base while they back cap our 2 bases.

I completely agree. EOTS is just like AB. There are 5 nodes (or 4 towers + flag) and you need to control at least 3 of them the majority of the time to win. It doesn’t really matter if it’s 3-1 or 2-2 plus the flag. You win either way.

I’m not sure why or when it started but a lot of people seem to think if you’re not pushing for another base you’re doing it wrong. Ive lost count how many times people have called me afk for staying at a base to defend.

Where are the Elemental Shammys near the flag in the middle?? I wanna see more people being tossed into oblivion
i feel like 3 is easier cause you can just keep continuously rotating to the base they are leaving vulnerable by pushing another base
you can literally do the same thing controlling mid and its not as far

idk i hate fighting mid as ally because we almost never have healers, much easier for us to just zerg a 3rd base
i feel the exact opposite i feel like even non premade more often than not alliance have 3+ healers and horde have 1 or none
This is because the meta sheep refuse to try doing anything other than what the “meta” is. You’re entirely right… if the other team is outplaying you, holding 3 towers is much harder. I think holding 3 towers allows you to win slightly faster if a team pulls it off correctly.
IMO, players should enter a BG with multiple strategies, and be willing and able to adapt when necessary.

Mid is harder to hold and it is designed to always award less resources than another base.
What? Ele’s (shamans in general) don’t have a knockback mechanic to make someone fall of the ledge.

It seems, theoretically, that 2 towers + flag is the most conservative and most probable winning strategy. If you can hold three towers, you are the superior team, and would win with three towers or two plus the flag. If you can’t hold three towers, it doesn’t mean you can’t hold two and capture the flag. A lot of people seem to want to get a quick win, or give up.
I think this meta formed by too many people going mid and getting three capped by the other side, so now the meta has shifted too far the other way.

EoTS has multiple ways to win, not contesting mid usually backfires. A Druid running that flag on CD is still a lot of pts with one base.

By far, our best (winningest) strategy has been 2 + flags. Even in PUGs. If we have 2 or 3 healers mid, this is almost a guaranteed victory.
2 defenders per base, calling out incoming. Everybody else mid, unless a base has called for reinforcements.
When we do that, we almost always win. constantly pushing for 3…the outcome is random or worse.
Always hate it when we get a little Napoleon in there convincing people to do the wrong thing. That little turd will be the one cussing people out by the end 90% of the time too.

Because ally give u after the first base flips. Might as well grab that third node.
Well you can hold the flag and cap it when you have more than one base.
Prolly why i dont see it…Thanks!
