Entitled dual-wielding/2H "tanks"

Is it obvious yet that OP is liking all his own posts on alts?

my guild literally farms lbrs/ubrs with a 2h arms tank and spriest heals. sounds like a git gud situation.

My main is a lock. My alt is a shaman. My alt levels exclusively with a warrior. I always have him 2h tank. Why? Clears are faster.

I have healed in vanilla before. I know how to deal with the 5 second rule to maximize regents. I don’t spam heal the tank when hp is full. We have no issues with a 2h tank.

I have also played in groups with a 2h tank on my lock. I have had no problems where the tank and the healer were in sync through ZF. I have not seen a 2h tank in BRD, Mara or ST. But when people get geared, I am sure this will be more common.

2h tanking is not necessarily good or bad. But 2h tanking is a decision the tank and healer should make. Some groups can pull it off. Others cannot.

Stop trying to dictate how others play.

Skarm also specifically says in that video that you should be overgeared for the content before doing this and make sure it is okay with everyone else.

LOL! I was thinking of Saber.

P.S. Love the Fate series.

Jeez so many of these posts it’s driving me nuts.
At lower levels (sub 60) it really doesn’t matter if the tanks using a shield, if you are having problems in the group it is because your group is bad and that’s it.
I have done numerous dungeon runs with 2h or dual wielding tanks which went quicker and smoother than 1h/shield tanks let me explain why.
The higher your damage is, the quicker things die and the higher your agro is which means the less mana your healer spends on healing, not to mention the dungeon goes ALOT quicker, now paired with d stance with a 10% damage reduction and increased threat
Defensive stance and a good 2h or 1hs from what i’ve seen atleast at low levels is superior to a 1h/shield tank, the damage just isnt there, the agro just isnt there there, the healer is spending more mana on healing other team members, he’s spending more mana healing the tank and not to mention the dungeons going alot slower because the tanks doing half if not less than half the dps or a 2h tank or dual wield tank.

Because classic dungeons are trivially easy and the most challenging part of them is holding threat, which is much easier to do as 2h or dual wield.

So glad people are finding out new things about this game. Always cool when someone makes something like this work.

The future is now, old man.

Which Saber? Saber, Red Saber, Bride Saber, Saber of Red, Saber Lily, or Saber-Alter?

Good one. The old “it’s everyone else’s fault” mindset

Unless you’re wearing full Tier 1 with quickstrike ring there’s absolutely zero reason to be dual wield tanking at this point. Even then, it’s a pretty big yikes and only excusable in a guildie run or if your DPS is incredibly geared

Basically, bring a bear instead

Wrong, and wrong again. I never defended LFR and your 5-second rule BS is just that. You clearly don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

Quick update: just booted another wanna-be Asmongold derp taking up a tanking slot.

You don’t need anywhere close to full tier 1 to dual-wield/2h tank dungeons.

Keep in mind, the dungeons are meant to be cleared by people with gear generally worse than what drops within it.

Dual-wield/2h tanking is generally better than sword and board in dungeons, anyway, so you could reasonably tank dungeons with gear a few levels below it.

You want to hold every warrior’s hand and kill mobs while questing for them? Please go kill open world mobs as a full protection warrior with sword and board. You will take 20 seconds a mob and have to eat after every pull because shields don’t mitigate anything until end game.

Hi.

I tank with DW because mages are idiots and AoE as soon as the pull starts and I can’t generate enough rage to Spam Cleave with a 1hander.

Spoken like a true know-nothing. Hey champ, I leveled as prot in vanilla. I also leveled a Holy priest in vanilla. On my priest, I could instantly tell whether I was healing a wanna-be or a true tank. On my warrior, my talents + armor (including shield) mitigated plenty and I didn’t have to eat after every pull. I could just keep going like the little train that could.

The bigger culprits here are the people who respond to my DPS LFG message and invite me then expect me to tank once they find out I’m a warrior. No I won’t tank, I haven’t trained with my 1hander and I wear leather pieces everywhere. Just let me carry the group in DPS please, thanks.

I’m fine with that. When I get a whisper to a LFM, I shift-click their name to see what level/class they are. If a warrior wants to come dps, y’all are more than welcome.

And I will tell you right now a warrior with sword and board before level like 50 is never getting hit in a group that does competent damage. Compare like ANY one hander at level to the WW or Ravager Axe and it is AT LEAST half as much damage. Unless every single dps waits for 2-3 sunders per mob you are never keeping aggro and will get ripped off on the first frost or shadowbolt.

All for the sake of maybe 10-15% PHYSICAL damage reduction because your block chance at low levels is low and your block value might be a whopping 15…off of a hit for 150.

And I will tell you right now a warrior with a sword and board before level like 50 can tank perfectly fine with a group that does competent damage. This is totally a learn to play scenario on your part. I never had DPS wait for 2-3 sunders. That was a crutch for bad tanks. So the solution is simple. Stop being bad. I’ve been saying that for a while now.

One way to spot someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about (like the fellow above), is the complete lack of discussion about your other tanking abilities. It’s always the old “sunder” trope. Sorry champ, but you have other abilities such as Revenge that are amazeballs for threat.

I like Saber. She’s a honorable badass knight. Plus, I like the way she looks and moves.

Because I’m so sick, I am going thru the Fate series slowly. So, I haven’t seen the other Sabers yet. No spoilers, please!
