Customer support was next to non-existent, probably only limited to forum banning. Now all this will be gone, once the CS shift to india or philippines. Then you cant understand them haha
Blizzard’s Customer Service/GMs and Tech Support handled tickets for all Blizzard games. There has not been a WoW specific team in around a decade. They mostly worked out of the Austin, Texas office, although some were in Irvine. There were some in Cork, Ireland as well. Not sure where the Asia folks were. Seoul most likely.
The Blues you see on the forums are Community Managers. Completely different team and people. They are mostly still around. I am not aware of any in the US who have been laid off. Their role here is to write and post patch notes, notices, announcements, and answer questions sometimes. Their main role is interfacing with the broader WoW Community such as streamers, websites/guide sites, events, etc.
The Forum Support Agents (also not GMs who take tickets) post on the Customer Support forum and Tech Support forum. CS there is an Information Desk to help folks navigate the support system and answer questions about systems and policy. Those folks are also safe for now.
Of course, just what sort of ticket system they are going to try to guide folks through in the future? I have no idea.
