Enhancement spec bonuses

What do you drop to run it? EA?

1/2 EA and FW. Just spam 10 stack LB as much as possible and use pwave/wolves on cd. It’ll be really strong after reset I think

Thanks. That does sound good. Particularly w/the extra 10% LB damage coming back. And makes better use of the whole tier set.

I appreciate that you’re coming from a good place with this sentiment. My issue is not with difficulty or getting used to things. I have no issues with executing a rotation. My issue is that I do not find “maintenance” to be fun. I don’t enjoy tracking debuffs, especially in AoE. The Elemental build is not enjoyable for me.

I’m not defending the flaws in Storm’s design. It’s got some parts that I find very comparable to other classes. It’s got some parts that are quite awesome (I really enjoy the Doomwinds + Crash Lightning gameplay loop, as an example). I enjoy spamming Stormstrike, even at the cost of a more nuanced rotation. I find it satisfying. But the talents painfully obviously needs some tweaks. Namely DRE.

I get that people like Elemental build. I get that people feel big brained playing it. I get the elitist attitude from those who prefer it. They deserve to have that option. Blizzard should not design tier sets that strangle out entire build paths by limiting Tier 3 talent choices.

I keep seeing this everywhere - if people are playing this incorrectly in the first place, switching LF/EA into SM/LotFW for aoe is a negligible loss. You (speaking generally) don’t have to play LF if you aren’t good at it. You could probably drop sundering and keep a point in EA even, if people wanted to.

Executing LF correctly however is always a gain, but the option is there.

I dont even pvp and i know storms whole point in pvp is to pray for an ascendance proc to global somebody with thorims procs lol

The people who is trashing other players just because they like storm build… man go outside, take a breath and let others to have their fun, everybody has different ways to play the game.

Tier sets that force a talent imo are the worst and season 3 forced HORRIBLY a talent build that kills variety in this spec whic is not fun.

Because NOT EVERYONE LIKE IT, why is it so hard to understand? people want variety, yeah RNG kinda sucks, and forced talent builds are a horrible decision that i hope Blizzard will fix later on.

Hate to break it to you, with how much of the class they tossed into the trees, tier sets going forward will almost always force talent choices until they decide to let tier sets give you abilities.

To be honest, SS is the highest priority for ability is fine but when it’s higher priority than spending resources. That’s where we have a problem with storm because it’s degenerate and toxic to play.

Season 2 forces Sundering for Elementalist though…

What he said.

They can do good bonuses, S1 and S2 are decent ones; s2 imo is the best and S3 is the worst: either you go as Elementalist and do “decent damage” or go storm and let yourself die in the lowest DPS.

Forcing a talent choice that is in the last part of the tree is a very bad design imo since it breaks the whole purpose of having a choice in whatever people like.

You guys talking about the storm build being bad- that is a deeply rooted elements/ascendance being a 3 min cooldown problem. Pressing SS over spending was kinda cringe too though.

Season 1 is completely worthless with the tree changes, you would be vastly overcapping while you are already swimming in maelstorm.

Season 2 you functionally ignored the 4pc as storm and it made elementalist obnoxious to play. So no Season 2 is not the best.

Season 3 makes Elementalist so incredibly fluid to play. And storm literally just has to hit PWave on cooldown to get maximum value out of it

And yet somehow forcing sundering is okay because reasons?

Season 1 bonus is redundant because of Elemental Assult working now.

Storm was only good in Season 2 because they fixed some talent issues with the build and neglected to fix elementalist’s biggest issue with the build which is being maelstrom starved. This is the only reason why Storm was better on single target (assuming God blessed you). Storm AoE was still garbage on cleave fights and was only good in mass AoE scenarios but you lost so much low target cleave and single target damage you were griefing in M+.

If you put the season 2 bonus on current talent trees, Elementalist will blow Storm out of the water fully because every part of that tier set synergizes better with Elementalist.

Storms issue isn’t a forced talent point issue, it’s the whole build itself has issues. A tier set is not going to fix it. Yall seem to forget we had basically an entire expansion of talent tree changes.

And yet somehow forcing sundering is okay because reasons?

please, read the phrase again: It is the last talent choices in the tree that make builds awfully closed to variety. S2 tier on sundering was on the second level of the spec tree it did not force any path or so… we didn’t have Tempest Strike to make a choice based on the bonus tier.

Yes but making me take that talent means I have to take a point out of one of the other talents that fundamentally fixed the resource generation issues elementalist had. So you forcing sundering is equally as bad.

Okay, S1 is completely useless with the tree changes because of Elemental Assault being much better version of S1 and we are swimming in MSW. Storm was good in S2 because elementalist had a huge issues with MSW starve but elementalist was still ahead in 2T or more. They fixed the issues on MSW starve by change Elemental Assault and buff MSW base.

If you put the S2 set bonus on current talent tree, we are still forced to run elementalist because it will beat storm by a miles in everything. Elementalist love mastery more than storm and storm completely ignored the 4pc bonus. S2 have some cringe playstyle aka use sundering for damage instead of AoE CC and use CL in ST.

Fair enough. Honestly the maintenance aspect kinda falls to the wayside as you get more use to the rotation but I get the feeling. Deff had that when I first hit max but it somewhow clicked with me and and I fell in love with it.

Honestly my favorite aspect of the build, it produces the same dopamine rush I get from Pwave + LB cleave. Personally wished it was a longer duration like maybe 8 or 10 seconds, even if they reduced the Windfury proc chance down to really max out getting Chain Lightenings to reset Crash and getting more out of that loop. The duration being short and it being a 1.5 min CD really makes it off putting though.

I can see that argument with it knocking out DRE talents. I’am personally of the opinion that using Pwave Cleave makes more sense to me in Storm given the haste amp. I also have trauma flashbacks playing Storm Cleave and having DRE proc on the last mob of pack when said mob is at like 10% health too many times.

Feels like trading kill pressure for sustain though.

Extra MSW generation, more nature damage, more primordial waves, more healing, more random feral spirit damage.

But giving up +20% physical damage from frost witch on ascendance and doomwinds gos, decoupling feral spirit CD from doomwinds/ascendance, 10% less stormstrike/windstrike damage.

Do you run it into particular comps (e.g., heavy armor)?
