Out of sheer confusion and impaired decision making, it appears I have boosted the wrong class type on a new realm. I am a returning WoW player, and purchased the war within base edition, and while did not intend to boost a demon hunter, it appears I have done so in error. I immediately logged out upon realizing my situation and currently have a ticket listed under “Not Listed Here” category. While I am aware Blizzard appears to have a relatively strict policy with character boost reversions I am looking for hope that my case will be reviewed with some leniency. If not then can I at least attempt a refund and repurchase to obtain another level boost? (Just 20 minutes played with new expansion bought yesterday)
If for any reason, a refund is granted the character that was boosted is locked and a new boost must be applied to it until you can use boosts elsewhere.
It doesn’t work that way as you’ve already used the boost that comes with the upcoming expansion. Refunding the expansion purchase will most likely lock that boosted character until such time as the expansion is purchased again. You won’t get a 2nd fresh boost for purchasing the expansion again.
Completely understood regarding the refund concept. Is there belief that a character boost can sometimes be reverted based on the circumstance. Should I categorize my ticket under a diff category.
Problem with purchase would be the more ideal.
You should prepare for an answer of No to getting it reverted and possibly a no to refund as you stated that you played for 20 minutes. No harm in asking though.
That’s usually the last category you want to roll with, honestly. It’s a general catch-all, and has a slower turnaround time than properly categorizing it for the accounts and billing team.
You’ll want to open a ticket here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/1146/ticket
I’d go in with an “expect the worst, but hope for the best” mentality. Their article is pretty clear, but we have seen them locking the character and making the boost available again in varying circumstances. The biggest thing is to stay off that character and be very timely in getting this stuff addressed as it is a time-sensitive manner.
Have we ever seen them actually revert a boost? Like, I think the possibilities here are:
A) refund, boost (if xpac repurchased) can be used on another character, but that DH will be locked and unplayable until a separate boost is purchased for it
B) no refund, will have to buy a separate boost for the intended character.
What I’m saying is, I don’t think there is any scenario that results in un-boosting that DH. Am I wrong? (Edit: OP can certainly ask, I’m just saying prepare for a no.)
I am pretty sure I’ve seen it a few times where someone has thought to come back and say that they were successful in getting it reverted. I just can’t seem to put my finger on any posts about it at the moment. I do have this SFA post in response to someone else asking:
While it’s not all-inclusive, this is what it says for refunding character services:
For pre-purchases, it speaks on refunding the full package, but not the individual elements.
Yeah, I’m assuming that if they get a refund, it’ll be the entire thing refunded, and then they can repurchase the entire thing if they want, and then they can apply the boost where they want. Only question - if it’s refunded - is will the DH boost be reverted, or the DH just locked.
Good luck, Soodith - I hope you get things sorted out as much as possible.
I don’t think that’s how expac refunds work. You get one boost per expansion upgrade. If you use it, then refund the expansion, the boosted character is locked. When you re-purchase the expansion, you don’t get another boost, you get the original boost in the form of that boosted character being unlocked.
Hope that makes sense.
In very few cases. AS LONG AS you didn’t log into the character after boosting.
They MAY revert it.
There is 99% chance they won’t.
I see what you’re saying, it just isn’t how I thought it worked. If a boost is refunded, the character is locked until you apply another boost to it. You’re saying, basically, the next boost you buy will be applied to that character to unlock it. And maybe they do it that way, but then there would be no point in getting a refund at all. (Well, sometimes there might be a reason, but usually the reason people want a refund is they boosted the wrong character.) You may still be right, but I guess I’ll just wait and see if OP or someone else reports on this - I’m not going to go buy something and try to refund it just to test it out.
If you purchase and apply a stand-alone boost, then refund it, the character is locked and remains locked until you apply another boost, because it isn’t possible to de-level the character. You can leave the character locked and boost other characters if you want to.
