Can you explain what the purpose of this change is then?
They explain it in the patch notes you linked:
It’s so if new players hit level 10 they can go enhance even if they don’t have an offhand yet.

SS/WF build doesnt use LL though? So maybe someone could? Dont know or care really lol

I suppose it’ll depend on how reliable the updated Voltaic Blaze is for spreading Flame Shock to targets. SS builds will probably want to use the new PWave and Primordial Storm for AoE at least.

I wonder if it could be good for a low level PvP twink?
for pvp it will be viable for stormbringer, since we will probably run DRE/thorims and not pstorm

A lot of builds already use Lava Lash as lowest priority filler only above your unempowered shocks. And Voltaic Blaze is gives you more than 100% uptime on spread flame shocks. I don’t really understand what the point of the updated Voltaic is, it seems to just add another ability that can proc it which means even more unnecessary uptime.
Well, it’ll be interesting to see how it works out I guess. And whether or not it working out is intentional. I’d be afraid of it being better at the start of the season and then Blizzard deciding they didn’t like it and nerfing it leaving everyone needing to scrounge up 2 new weapons all of a sudden.

Notes stated that it’s to let new players play the spec since if u don’t have heirlooms and u were playing one of the other specs, ur just going to have either a 1H or a 2H weapon and not a secondary weapon to equip in the offhand.
Last I’ve seen is Stormstrike only usable with a 1-hand weapon. Unless they update that flag, 2-hand isn’t available… yet.
They did update it to no longer require an offhand, that’s the whole point of this thread discussion.
The ONLY other ability requiring DW is Lava Lash, and you can easily drop that. Recently it’s only purpose has been Flame Shock spread and Voltaic Blaze is eating its lunch in that respect.

Shaman tanks when?
Stormbringer and totemic are two of the most boring hero trees across all classes imo, if the intention is to eventually have shaman tanks/support tanking then it would make sense to just do something silly like designing a hero talent tree around an insane damage skew like stormbringer as a temporary holdover.

I understand the point of the thread. However, following the update, the ability is still flagged to only be usable with a 1-handed weapon (“requires one-handed melee weapon”) and not a 2-hand weapon. 2-hand will not work unless they add a 2-hand weapon flag to the ability.
I’m not seeing that flag on wowhead. I see “Requires Main-Hand Weapon” which is the same flag for things like Mortal Strike which can definitely be used with 2 handed weapons.

2h Shaman is long overdue. Transmog it, slap some animations and call it a day. Would be done in 10minutes and it’d make a lot of people happy and excited.

I just double checked. Build 58221 definitely says “Requires One-Handed Melee Weapon”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping for 2-handed or main-hand as well - it just doesn’t say that yet.
