HE SAID YET!!! ARE THE SIGNS TRUE!? IT IS COMING BOYS!
Looking through wowheadās database, I canāt find a single ability that is flagged like that and the updated Stormstrike for PTR is not flagged with it either. The Requires Off Hand Weapon flag was removed from it, so it is updated.
MMO Champion lists it as requiring a melee weapon, no mentioned of one-handed.
Iām unsure where you are seeing that requirement.
go to wowhead ptr 11.1 and look up stormstrike. go to changelog and look at the most recent build.
Ok, yeah, I see it. Looks like Ice Strike and Doomwinds would also be off the table.
The update hasnāt gone through yet. This is for 11.1, not 11.0.7.
you can find the tooltip on the datamined changes page as well as in the 11.1 changelog.
If I can finally be 2hand enhance shaman again Iād reroll in a heartbeat.
not real. just another typo fake news from the devs to get us hyped for the next 10 years again
2h enhance shaman would be awesome. Not sure why they donāt allow this, whatās the point of having 2h axes/maxes if we canāt even use them? Realistically canāt use them across any of our specs.
People have been hyped about this for years, should really be a thing. Not sure if itās because they are worried or donāt want to deal with potential balance issues between DW and 2h but idk it should be an option.
with the majority of our damage being sucked into maelstrom generation and spenders, 2h wouldnāt be viable whatsoever unfortunately.
However, Iām holding onto hope that these changes in 11.1 do switch gears to potentially allowing it in the future- by mitigating some damage back into melee strikes, mainly windfury and SS, we could easily have a decently functioning 2hā¦ sadly i dont think itās on their radar.
I guess the other potential way of going about it is for them to allow DW to mog into 2handers and use 2 hander animations. That would fulfill the fantasy entirely.
I imagine that is probably much easier than having to add in more weapons with agility (like 2h axes/maces, most donāt have agility) and rebalancing the spec.
Would they need to add in more weapons with agility than they already have? Also, couldnāt they just do that thing they already do where the main stat is determined by whatever your highest primary stat is or however that works?
Like, I donāt know if thereās more, but based on a quick wowhead search, I found this 2h-Mace:
Ordained Forge Maul
(Ilvl 610)
Two-Hand Mace
6,866 - 8,828 Damage Speed 3.60
(2,180 damage per second)
+2,896 [Agility or Strength]
+16,198 Stamina
+615 Haste (0.93% @ L80)
+1,143 Mastery (0.00% @ L80)
Itās the most reasonable.
Itād also help fury warriors who want to dual wield 1 handed weapons, survival hunters who want to be more like Rexxar, frost dks tired of dual wielding, etc.
Yeah they would need to add more, because 1 mace at 610 ilvl is not enough lol. We would need a 2h agi mace or axe from the raid, ideally one or two from m+ dungeons and a 2h axe or mace that has agility in pvp as well.
And no, they donāt do that for weapons anymore. All other pieces (aside from trinkets ofc) will swap their primary stat based on current spec, but weapons do not.
Easiest way is def to just reduce some weapon mog restrictions ie 2h can be mogged over DW, so furies would also be able to cosmetically play Single minded fury like Adelaide said. It would take a bit of work Iām sure to get animations right, but probably far less work than trying to balance between DW and 2h, they struggle with that for frost dk and fury warrior already anyway.
Oh yeah, Iām all for doing whatever it takes to get that awesome 2h look! Transmog or actually allowing for wielding 2h. Either way I would be a happy Shaman.
I thought this at first as well, but probably not as much work as I once thought! So, thereās a weapon you can find as a world treasure in TWW. Just having it in your inventory has a chance to turn you into a dwarf, and when it does, it automatically transforms your weapon model into a huge 2h pick. I had this on my Shaman for a bit, and when youāre transformed, all of the weapon animations play out just as normal. Stormstrike, Crash Lightning, Doom Winds, all of the animations and flashy effects still showed as normal and the 2h mace swung just like you might expect it to be swung for any other special attack, be it Obliterate, Bloodthirst, or Raptor Strike.
So basically TLDR: they absolutely have the ability to allow moving of DW weapons into a 2h with zero drawbacks.
Awww! I thought that was still a thing. That was a really nice mechanic that gave a ton of options for gearing while leveling. Wonder why they changed their mind on that.
That one was just an example of what I was talking about back when I thought a lot more weapons followed that mechanic of swapping between primary stat based on your specialization. Now that I know thatās not a thing, I guess that weapon is one of only very few (if not the only one). I agree, there would need to be many more eligible weapons.
Just hopped on PTR to test it out. Yeah, confirmed. Equip a single 1h (and nothing in off-hand) and you can use Stormstrike and Doomwinds. Equip a 2h weapon and Stormstrike/Doomwinds is greyed out.
Still holding on to hope that someday Shaman will get this added. While I was testing, it was still pretty fun even without those two abilities. Windfury felt like it procād quite often (roughly every 1-3 auto attacks), and the animation for it was really cool to see. I was still able to use my entire kit except for Stormstrike (so crash lighting, shocks, lightning bolt, etc) and even gain maelstrom. It would honestly feel super smooth if it was allowed to use Stormstrike and Doomwinds.
Itās still a lot slower-paced than DW, obviously. However, despite this, I would be happy to switch to 2h as long as it came with Stormstrike. Iād even be happy with being able to xmog my two 1h into a single 2h.
Well at least we can now use a gimped version of storm strike if we want to. For some reason.
Is this on the ptr? I have no interest in shaman outside of 2h enhance lol. Iād love to play it again
The following build might work (or something like it) by avoiding Lava Lash entirely:
Neither Stormstrike nor Ice Strike work with a 2-handed weapon.
