I have my hit currently at 7% and I know 9% is cap but I miss so many of my abilities….is this just how shamans are? Also I lose like half every every mob I fight
You guys got it hard because you need hit and spell hit. I feel for you.
Spell hit cap is higher than melee hit cap, and shaman use both. I’m pretty sure Shaman can get a good amount of hit from talents, make sure you’re picking those up.
Should I be prioritising Hit rating over Agi/strength gear until I’m hit capped at 9%? Currently 8.5%?
depends, on the trade off but realistically yes. You need to be at 9% without balance druid ad 6% with balance druid.
Between Dual Wield Spec and Nature’s Guidance that is 9% melee hit and 3% spell hit right there. Both are must have for raiding imo. Any extra melee hit from gear is still beneficial as it helps your auto attacks hit. It’s probably not worth it going for spell hit so you are going to miss a lot of your shocks unfortunately.
With the enhanc/resto build I’m following I won’t get 1 point into nature’s guardian for another two levels
Oh, if you’re still leveling then yeah you’re gonna miss a lot because of leveling gear and missing talents. It helps if you fight mobs that are lower level than you as you don’t need nearly as much hit for your abilities to land.
Ah right I see…so focus more on dps gear upgrades than hit while leveling?
9% is not the cap. My Enh is at 19% right now.
From wowhead shaman guide
talents immediately gets you to the 9% soft hit cap so you don’t have to worry about getting hit capped from gear, expertise is then highest on the stat priority because you gain a lot of value from it up until the 6.25% cap, and from there these are the best stats from a per-point value (disclaimer that some stats will show up in abundance on gear).
Edit: ahhh I just read aim for 15% to avoid white attacks missing…9% is yellow damage cap
Trust me, you listen to wowhead at your own risk.
It’s situational what is best. But to make things simple I would probably focus on expertise first (but i think it is rare on leveling gear), then Strength/AP, melee crit, hit, and finally agi. Get your hit from talents mostly.
9% is a soft cap, meaning your special attacks won’t miss against mobs <= 3 levels higher than you. You can obviously stack more and more is beneficial as your auto attacks have a very high miss chance when dual wielding.
What guides do you follow?
My own play, there’s no guide. You can sim things out, or you can sit in the Shaman discord and watch people ask which profession is BIS for weeks.
(It’s leatherworking for this phase BTW.)
I healed my way to 70, picked up the prebis as I went.
You’ll be way over 9% just by doing that.
White damage is over 40% of my DPS on bosses.
As others have said, we get 9% hit from talents. Hit beyond that still has some benefit, but you’re better off focusing on other stats.
You’ll still end up with plenty of hit on your gear because it’s a pretty common stat.
Try to avoid pieces with int or mp5. Generally these consume item budget and don’t provide much benefit. If you’re totem twisting the extra mana can be handy, but using your rage wisely and maybe a mana pot will be more than enough for most fights.
While I understand what you are saying I think it sends a bad message.
9% from talents is not even close to enough, and I actively try and stay closer to 20% total.
Absolutely avoid int and MP5, they are pointless with proper management of your CDs.
Leveling, it’s pointless to try and hit cap. Get to 70 and it will happen.
Welp, I strongly disagree.
I’ll show you my logs if you show me yours.
Trying to maintain that level of hit is going to hurt your other stats, particularly flurry uptime. At least in phase 1 gear.
you mean white hits ?
