Enemy health scaling is out of control

2.51m at ilvl572

et tu.

Whatever they did, the difficulty of qusting mobs noticeably increased. I think, given the pushback on it, from people with 570 ilvls, they don’t feel it. At 545, I guarantee you it’s changed.

The ilvl scaling for leveling that they applied did not affect level 80 mobs. You’re just very weak compared to mobs at 545, seeing as they have 1.25 mil hp on average at 80. You’re welcome to do some tests and post evidence like the other person did.

lol, wtf did you think the problem was? SO weak, that I’m not having fun doing it. Not. AT. ALL.

So, I saw this and decided to take a look for myself. Here are the results for scaling at level 80.

Same non-elite mob (one that is affected by level scaling and is not always-80). Same location. One character at ilvl 584 saw the mob at 1314k. The other at 558 ilvl saw it at 1239k.

There is ilvl scaling, but it is insignificant at max level. The health gain over 26 ilvls was <100k for the average mob, even less for the “lesser swarm” mobs who have 30% of that health and just a little more for the “greater” normal mobs who have 100% more health. Elites (non-group scaling), Rare Elites (group scaling), and Dangerous Rare Elites (Far increased health and group scaling) are different altogether and I don’t have the drive to investigate the ilvl scaling of every mob type but for the average quest mob, at max level it is a non-issue.

For leveling, yes things get beefier (same mob at level 74 at 480 ilvl has 535k HP) but it still dies relatively quickly. Hardly what one would consider ‘out of control.’

I’m going to say again that at 80, at my ilvl of 545, that the mobs are too much for quest mobs, so much so that I’m unwilling to continue. I noticed this right after the scaling change, so I blamed that for it, but regardless, it’s in a place where open world is too much for fun, for lower ilvl 80s.

this is the mob he was asking about

The monkeys, I think :see_no_evil:

I was going to say the raid or die clique, but the end result seems to be the same.

i gave up doing open world stuff on my healer monk and priest b/c it takes friggin forever to kill stuff. a simple quest end boss takes me like 6 mins to kill. ya my gear isn’t great but a full enchanted pvp set should be good enough to do quests in a timely manner? nope! in df i never had this problem even at the beginning.

I’m not certain they even think it’s a problem. Not a peep out of them yet, and there have been, now, many posts similar to yours.

Warband banks are gonna get some people pwnt hard

That may actually be what is surprising some people right now.

Don’t remember it in Shadowlands and I ignored most of dragonflight, so I can’t say.

similar to how i play. level up all alts to max. then wait for real content to drop. i usually try to wait until near the tail end of expansions though. its ironic but the worst time to play wow is when new expansions hit and the best time is when expansions are almost over.

SL 100% had ilvl scaling, and it was pretty bad scaling as well. If you never got raid gear or mythics gear, you would be unable to outpace the ilvl scaling—it ended at like normal raid gear level. It’s half the reason I quit during shadowlands.

From what we can tell looking at the data, the scaling doesn’t start until about ilvl 570. It’s a flat line from 531-559, and it doesn’t intersect the best fit line of the scaled up data points until about 570.

If you’re loosing a lot at 545, that’s a skill issue.

I distinctly remember testing ZM for scaling, and it only scaled down if you were below ilvl ~184. After that, it was constant HP.

Yeah the version we have is post-chromie time. IIRC it was to streamline and make it modular so that it could be controlled on a more automated level. Which comes with its own slew of problems - like how 10-40 has barely any differences but suddenly 40-60 has a huge jump in stats. Weird.

They also scaled to your ilvl in DF till a certain break point.
First patch is always meh, i have no idea why blizzard thinks ilvl scaling is a good idea lol.

i completely agree. Once I hit 80 I was no longer able to solo some mobs that i had no problem soloing at 79. Not sure why this is occurring but it is.

Sure hope blizzard fixes this problem soon.
