I dont know if we will ever fully be able to lift the realm stuff.
But Im ok with it not mattering or being a barrier to anything we do in game. Let us trade with each other etc.
I think having a seperate Org/SW, major cities and separate chat global channels like Trade etc will always be needed. Other games that are mega server type things, dont have global channels like we do. Itd be a MESS. haha
Server technology has really come a long way in the last 20 years, with realms originally located on actual physical machines, to shards being on virtual servers which are created when required.
Same, realms don’t really matter right now, it seems that the move is more towards not having them at all eventually.
It would reduce the complexity of the server architecture needed on the backend. Thus reducing overall costs.
We already can, even across realms, just not across factions unless we’re in an instance.
Which will probably be rectified at some point too.
Yes, area chats will always be separate.
But I don’t see any reason why they can’t show all the same area chats that happen on all the realms in the same channel.
It’d be busy, but then, it would make it less lonely on low population realms.
You’ll quickly learn there’s no arguing with Celinthia. They’ll just move the goal posts once they’re disproven.
If you want an example scroll up where we were talking about SOD, they said they didn’t make PvP changes to classic and I literally linked a hotfix from Monday where they clarified boomkin rune nerfs.
In case there’s any confusion, SoD is classic and is where most of the classic players are at.
Yes, I also mentioned the implications of removing sharding/cross realm which is…
This. Because yes it was worse than now. Realms before sharding and phasing became a thing in MoP, had faction balances of 90% of one over the other. There were very few realms that were “balanced”. It was worse than now. At least now you can group and fight off the Alliance if you ACTUALLY WANTED TO.
this is not “Simply” done.
Say they removed shadowmeld tmrw, and truly made all racials equal. By your logic, why would anyone switch back to Horde then? The balance issue would remain.
They have the tools with Sharding to combat imbalance, they just dont. They could give us tools to let us better combat it too, by letting us control what shard we are and going to etc… So until then, it dont matter what they do. We have to find fixes ourselves like forming raid groups and getting anchors to realms etc.
They could also just create something similar to what ESO has, where its a huge PVP zone. And create more factions than just Alliance and Horde for people to choose to fight for, and then they could balance the numbers of who is on what team. BUT thats not truly WPVP anymore so ???
Because some racials are better for some classes or people like how some races look over others or some people like a faction over another, most people play “meta” because the want to be pvp sweats.
Something like this would be cool, I’m not against making wpvp better I just think war mode was a terrible idea.
Something like how everquest 2 has there pvp would be best honestly, get rid of high levels ganking low levels, add pvp balance make pvp risky, stuff like that.
I can still do this in Org, but my realm group is terrible for pvp. It would take like an hour of me “soloing” the place before a level 80 shows up, lol.
It created unbalanced everything and crazy stuff to mess with. The chaos of wpvp is what makes it fun. (holy crap 78 replies since I was here last)
Everyone wanting perfect balance… it can never be achieved, too many variables. If they can fix sharding first, then work on having events or other stuff to do, then it will be better, but I still believe pvp servers would be a big hit
Context matters here. Dude was saying that retail PvP is more balanced than classic PvP and completely ignored all of the systems we’ve had as of recent expansions.
I was saying that people are in agreement for the most part that Classic PvP is more balanced than retail and that’s a factor for why people are playing Classic for PvP instead of retail, not just because “they have PvP servers.”
