This is the part they don’t like to address because it would be an admission that the concept of harder content = harder gear is nothing more than an illusion.
Why is it healthy for ilvls to not go up so much? Complete irrelevance would be better. (Between tiers that is.)
You mean like the sensationalized title that started this thread? That to me is someone who takes this game WAY to seriously. Blizzard doesn’t have any “war” against the players because of the endgame design and to say differently is to be completely ignorant of this game’s history.
And if it’s just for fun, then why does someone having higher Ilevel than you matter so much? Why does “having fun” require players who don’t do group content having similar Ilvel to someone does? It’s envy, nothing more.
The complaint department is closed.
I mean there’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but it’s nothing more than a means to keep you on the treadmill and distracted from the fact that WoW has very little beyond repeatable, instanced content.
But as the number of difficulties continues to increase, so too does the power gap which becomes more noticeable. Since Blizzard wants to focus on gearing as the integral reason for playing this game, people are going to take issue with that power gap.
Even if I strongly disagree with this opinion (I found leveling to be an absolute blast in Classic), do you not see the problem with designing a video game in which a significant chunk of it is innately designed to be a tedious hurdle? You acknowledge that it’s not fun but argue against the notion that it should be more engaging?
Why does solo/casual players having a progression path to better gear hurt your fun in anyway. It doesn’t, you are a prime example of someone who takes this game way too seriously. As for why, it’s called progression of your character, part of what makes this game fun. Why shouldn’t everyone have a progression path to better gear. It hurts no one but the players who take this game too seriously and feel like if there is any advantage to be had, they are forced to do. Players like that are exactly what is going wrong with games nowadays, too much emphasis on competition and not about making the game fun for everyone who plays regardless of play style.
As a solo player myself, I support this post!
Why does people who group having better gear than you hurt your fun?
Nope. Just someone who likes the game the way it has always been designed. But I do love your complete dodge of the OP who starts a thread call “End the war on solo play in WOW.” Guess it really doesn’t matter how seriously people take the game so long as they are on your side right?
They have it. They just can’t progress past people who do group content. Simple.
Except they can, as someone has conveniently illustrated above that boosting exists in the game.
They don’t. We are not the ones that trying to take it away from you.
We don’t like it, and Blizzard hiding the sub count also proves many don’t like it also
And Blizzard needs to get with the times, or be left behind. Solo players matter just as much, and should have a path to the same power also.
It CAN’T be more engaging because wow attempts to cater to everyone. What I dislike, someone else finds it perfect.
You will always be able to find someone who likes something even when it’s bad. I don’t see what this proves.
Because my vision of wow being perfect would be fairly niche. Like Beta realms but permanent. Take out the gear grind so people can just play with stuff.
Or like those tournament realms Blizzard sets up once in a while.
I think that was the intent for Torghast. But, well…
No one is taking anything from you either so…
Mmmhmmmm…see you in DF
No they shouldnt. Play the game the way it is designed or accept the fact you wont be as powerful as someone who does group content.
Blizzard has done nothing but improve the game for those that don’t want to do group content…
Thinking that “all players crave a challenge” and that “all players should be social” are the two critical design philosophy errors that are holding Blizzard back.
Despite what they may think, not everyone wants to be challenged. Some of us hate and avoid challenges.
And, similarly, many of us enjoy sharing an inhabited world but simply don’t want to meet anyone or talk to anyone, ever.
Imagine how much easier Blizzard would find game design if they stopped trying to force players into things WE ARE NEVER GOING TO DO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. They’d have time to create actual content instead of wasting their efforts on fruitless coercion tactics like the Slime Cat.
LMAO.
No shot I was ever going for that thing. I wouldn’t have got it even if it was available through LFR. When I say I don’t group, I mean at all.
Or Blizzard can get with the times and change with it. Or fail yet again.
Which MMO rewards players that don’t do group content the same, if not more, than players that do?
See you in DF and I appreciate your monthly contribution
