Crafting was very relevant during WotLK, Cata and MoP.
But raiders complained about needing any of the professions really so BlizZard obliged with WoD. Furthermore, raiders complained about needing to do world quests in MoP, so they decided to completely eliminate that in WoD. WoD was the ideal expansion for raid logging.
Beta feedback in DF is much lower than Systemlands which is much lower than BFA. The shortened beta testing cycle doesn’t help either.
Badge gear was very good entry level gear back in the day and in fact it was required to obtain to be able further progress to better gear and enter raids in BC. That was like on the front page of elitist jerks website.
WoD didn’t have a long content draught like MoP SoO or Cata DS. Also WoD didn’t have templates because that was legion. WoD had two tiers of gear with an honor and conquest set that scaled in instanced and world PVP.
BlizZard explicitly stated they were reducing the number of world quests in systemlands compared to BFA. They also stated they would be compensating with an increase in gold and rep per world quest but that was very negligible or not noticeable at all.
No one in this thread is asking for WoW to be a solo experience. But many are asking for WoW to return to what worked pre WoD. Pre WoD doing open world content was rewarding.
True the hard gear resets with short seasons is a recent phenomenon with WoW. In old WoW badge gear was very relevant for a long time. Kara gear was relevant for a significant period of time. Same with PVP honor gear (eg weapons) in season 1 and 2 of BC. as it was a great gateway to earn a weapon to use for dungeons and entry level raiding.
Currently blues/low purple epics in the current game are equivalent to greens back in vanilla/BC/WotLK.
That is due to huge jumps in ilevel and the fact that scaling exists now in open world content. That was not the case in old WoW.
Yes it was. When I mention FF, I am mostly wanting more updates for holidays in WoW like they do. Also, player housing is amazing but I do not like the way FF does it.
This I 100% agree with. Back when the game had 1-2 difficulty settings, the power gap wasn’t as substantial so naturally people weren’t paying attention to it.
If you are going cut out out my entire response don’t even bother. Current blues/low purple epics are equivalent to greens back in the day due to huge ilevel jumps and scaling.
Not only that it was healthy for the game.
Badge gear was blue gear but it was not trash as it was mandatory to obtain so you could progress to better dungeon gear and then raiding gear.
You have all these people trying to gas light us about how the old WoW was. But it just reveals to us that they never really played the game. If casuals players know more about how old WoW used to be versus Nu WoW what does that say?
Invasions was a great opportunity as the legion prepatch event showed. That was one of the best prepatch events in the history of WoW. BlizZard is capable but they are holding onto instanced content like a toddler holds onto a blanket. They are scared that players might like non instanced content far more than instanced content.
my spouse is the same way. she does zone achievements, she collects pets, mounts, toys. she loved the zm catalyst because it gave her a chance to farm the sandworn relic gear and get her own low ilvl tier. it gave her something to work towards with an incentive.
when she is not doing that she farms old raids solo for transmog to play around with her toons looks, she tries for old mounts and pets and toys and titles.
she plays her way like many others. and she has fun. why do karens have to come on here and rain on peoples parade as if it is hurting them personally.
Some of them haven’t come to realize this is a game, it’s meant to be fun, and not taken seriously. Sadly some people get some strange sense of self worth from games and anything that infringes upon that is bad.
They also fail to realize people mind not enjoy the same things they do in a game, but if they don’t play their way, they are playing wrong and deserve nothing, and also call those players bad at the game.
I used to live for challenging content. I also used to make fun of ppl that play the way I do the last (almost) year. I was like, they don’t even play the game. I see the error of my thinking now.
Never say never but I never see me going back to the three pillars. I wanna “Netflix and chill”.
