Ya thats what I meant lol.
And theyâre also the best parts of the game.
Eh I mean isnât that the same level of engagment as dungeon grinding to go from 10-60?
I donât consider that âgroupâ play as thereâs not much coordination going on.
Also FF14 isnât a great comparison because their grouped content tends to be kinder and seems eager to help players learn the fights and mechanics. Which in WoW is largely absent because of a crappy toxicity policy, or just an outright rejection to enforce civility among pugs.
OW is a great example. Kaplan wanted hard bans for toxic players. Blizzard was afraid theyâd lose competitive players and sponsorships. Ignored Kaplanâs request, and only banned people from competitive play, the game remained toxic af and lost sponsorships over it.
Blizz really really needs to spend money on a robust GM team who tackle toxicity among the pug groups.
Yeah, I donât get it. Almost everything in FF14 is group oriented, the developers are pretty keen on that. They donât seem too thrilled about a ton of solo content. You can solo some dungeons and a couple of the new trials with Trusts but you canât really advance your character with it.
Dungeons, trials, raids, maps, hunt trains, etc., all group oriented.
You want to be literal, yeah sure, thereâs group content. About 3 hours worth in a 300+ hour MSQ.
You want to think outside the box, the most social you get in FF14 dungeons is âo7â and âggâ. The content is so easy thereâs not even the challenging aspect of doing something as a group.
I mean so is WoW lol. Unless you are doing Heroic+ or +15 or higher Mythic+, everything else in the game is a breeze.
I donât think anyone will argue against that.
Meanwhile, FF14 players will fight tooth and nail that their game cannot be single player. People literally login to that game to do the story and the story only. They have complained from day one they wish they didnât have to do dungeons/raids. We now have the Trust system, even for Trials.
I donât mind that but once you get past the MSQ, the trust system becomes worthless. I will say, doing the second trial with trusts is probably the best way to experience the fight because of all the little comments the various characters make. Adds weight to the fight in terms of the story.
May be I never truly tried FF14. I get anxiety attack after few quests . Nothing is voiced , except those cut scenes. And attack sounds and animations are just to flashy. Itâs like starting a PokĂ©mon battle on SEGA.
I usually have everything turned off except for my own attacks and healer things I need to be aware of. Iâm tempted to turn everything back on just to see the show lol.
I can understand this statement, itâs an unfortunate truth.
As with any community, there are always going to be pleasant and unpleasant people. Isolating yourself to avoid unpleasant people also prevents you from possibly meeting some amazing people. Iâve had phases where I played this game solo for over a year, and other phases when I where I was part of an active guild of good people. I enjoy the game both ways, but taking the time to try out some guilds and find that social aspect that fits is when I think this game truly shines brightest.
Just my opinion.
In this modern age, someone would argue that grinding mobs until 4 AM for a rare drop or camping a spawn point for hours and hours is âcasualâ because you can do it by yourself, even though that was the textbook definition of hardcore player behavior in the Everquest era.
People have perverted words to mean their exact opposite simply to try to make it seem like they are part of a majority worth listening to. Itâs so cringe. I guess they know they have no valid arguments for their point of view and they know theyâre not actually a sizable block of the community and so they try to introduce some spin, thinking they can fool Blizzard (they canât) by pretending that âcasualsâ behave the same way they do.
Absolutely, both the Covenant sets and Korthia are solo gear progression. For people to claim otherwise is blatantly dishonest.
It does seem that everyone who doesnât raid AOTC+ or do highish keys tries to pass themselves off as a casual doesnât it? Some people have 40 level cap alts they farm the love rocket on. Other people raid 2 days a week and try to get 4 keys done for vault. The first person probably plays 3x as much as the second but for some reason they will try call the raider a hardcore player that the wow team cannot cater to. Some people arenât casuals they just happen to not be any good at a game they play as much as a fulltime job.
Right but with time language changes and new definitions are adopted.
Casual in todayâs terms are no longer a reflection of just time. Itâs a reflection of difficulty, organization, and time.
Adherence to the old definition doesnât fit within the modern day gaming structure.
Then make up a new term instead of changing the old one.
Or use more accurate existing terms. âBadâ is a good one, in many cases. âObsessiveâ also applies to some instances. (Particularly the love rocket exampleâŠ)
For real. I find it disgusting when I see posts like âCasuals hate Mage Towerâ. Itâs like, what in the world are you talking about? Casuals donât hate Mage Tower - whoever posted that thread, who is probably just not good at the game, hates Mage Tower.
I knew plenty of beer league people who play AOTC only, only do a couple hours a week, who came back to the game to play a few hours of Mage Tower for a few weeks and then let their sub lapse once Mage Tower eneded. THAT is casual.
There are people who spend more than 40 hours a week on this forum alone who would dare call themselves âcasualâ fans of the game. Itâs just silly.
Of course, I would prefer not to be considered âBadâ, just because I choose to play solo.
Who are you to judge âgoodâ? Judging by your fishing achievements, you donât even seem to play this game.
You implied itâŠ
If you had said âAdding another solo progression track would not turn wow into a single player game.â That wouldâve indicated that there was already a progression track present. In its original formulation, it implies that a solo progression track is currently not available.
That is inaccurate. Letâs not hide behind semantic gymnastics please.
