End the war on solo gameplay in WoW (Part 1)

I guess … oooooook :flushed::flushed:

It’s a complex situation. And I’ve heard plenty of complaints about people whose education didn’t carry them to competence. I think talent is part of the motivating factor that impels some to greatness.

These games are designed by talented people (talented at playing the game) for talented people who are quick learners and highly skilled. Not understanding the general player demographic means they are not able to create a game to serve the average player.

The motivation factor is a mystery I have been trying to solve my entire life. I have no idea why some people can just sit down and focus on a craft for hours on end but other people have no willpower at all when it comes to doing anything they care about.

I don’t think willpower has anything to do with it. Willpower is a temporary mechanism employed to keep you don’t something that will be beneficial in some way but you really don’t like. That’s why diets invariable fail in the longterm.

Sorry man, but this is false. A lot of casuals do M+ almost exclusively thru LFG (see: frequent GD complain threads about M+ leavers). I haven’t touched M+ since like November, but back when I still bothered with it I just used LFG/played with random pug players for all my runs - therefore I consider myself a solo player.

Seems to be a lot of ongoing confusion/back-and-forth/debate in this thread as to what is considered a solo/casual player. I think if you are not doing MOST of your content with a static group of friends or guildies, you are a solo/casual player.

What is your theory on what it is? Because I am always looking for more opinions about this.

It’s a matter of being interested in something longterm. As I edited above, willpower will run out. It is temporary.

But what creates long term interest?

Well part of the problem is ‘hyphenating’ the words like this. They have very little to do with each other.

There are plenty of casual players who primarily do group content.

It’s how you are wired. Picking a career because “that sounds like a good career and will likely be in demand” is not going to be a long-term guarantee you will stay interested in it.

Eh, I would argue FF14 is more group oriented than even WoW is.

Korthia is solo gear progression.

That alone invalidates your claim there isn’t solo gear progression.

Truth. And there’s plenty of solo players that play more often than some heroic & mythic raiders & key pushers.

I can’t speak on PVP. I feel like to be good in rated PVP, being casual is a detriment. Again I don’t PVP do I am just spitballing there.

Mythic plus is group content even if you pug because you have to sign up and join it.

The only confusion is solo players trying to hid behind being a casual as to why they are bad at the game.

I made no such claim. You again are reading things into what I have written based on your prejudices and preconceived notions about “those people” and what those people deserve. But that’s how you think. The box you think in is tiny, but it is your safe space.

Casual guilds pop up ever other week and in 2 weeks only a certain click inside that guild works.

These things never last.

Indeed.

Some people get Cutting Edge playing 4-5 hours a week.
Other people run 30 alts through all the LFR wings, every week.

People on this forum would tell you the latter is the “casual”.

Hmm

If you’re adding something that means it doesn’t exist. You clearly implied it.

This is probably the most pot meet kettle statement I have read in a long time.

I assume you mis-spelled “clique”? If you meant to say clique, then sounds about right

If you join one of those said cesspool guilds, it’s basically “the same” as playing solo since no one ever does any activities/group content with the average guild members lol (…other than the inner circle of the GM’s friends/clique)

is anyone gonna tell this dude that you quite literally need to do group content for the MSQ?
