I didn’t think there was this very convenient get out of jail free cocktail in the game, so a bad pull would be a complete reset. Clearing the content that’s been cleared seemed next level amazing.
While it’s still kinda neat - lots of ways to die still and be too slow to flask - the progression definitely doesn’t feel next level anymore, just got to make sure you have this flask on hand.
Petri being a thing is probably why theres so many ppl able and willing to even go in raids. Otherwise there might be just one elite guild doing it. At that point just remove raids and just have 5 man content be endgame.
That’s a fair point but then again this is supposed to be HC.
We should get rid of mounts and mage portals while we’re at it.

Don’t worry, you’ll get to keep it. There’s no way they can fairly remove it at this point. You got people that are raid geared using it, so new players, such as myself would be at a huge disadvantage if they removed it before I got leveled.
Only way to remove it fairly would be to wipe servers so everyone had same means to raid gearing without it.
The only thing worse than this was the death appeal on the HC addon.

Everyone is carrying a petri flask to avoid a wipe or losing their characters. Lips as well.
A dev said in the webcast that they were “ok” with the petri flask because there was the downside of having to farm the black lotus, but we need to go back to phase 6 of Classic where they literally reduced and its spawn locations increased:

Yeah. That is definitely a problem that devs should look into. I don’t think getting rid of Petri flask would be the case but adding a cooldown on it and removing the fast “out of raid/dungeon” teleport would avoid people exploiting this to prevent a wipe.

Best way is to not engage with this troll and just report his posts as trolling, he’s just trying to derail / gatekeep conversation on this topic as usual. He’ll go on vacation for this.
People would be able to go to raids without petri flasks, but the stakes would be a lot higher.
Seeing that there is a very high spawn rate of black lotuses since the phase 6 of classic and there are still many layers in the game, Lotuses are not a problem so instead being a consumable to use once or twice, it is the main consumable.
The only problem with this approach is there’s already people plenty geared by the ease of access to the flask and the current use mechanics.
Changing that now would hurt the newly leveled people more than it would hurt the current raiders.
There is no way to reset all the way back to elwynn or durotar, but for a certainty there is a way to prevent them from exploiting this further.
At some point they’ll be clearing things without wiping because of the gear, of course. No one will be calling them out of exploiting petri flask / leaving group just as no one comments that the “first hardcore kill of Ragnaros” during SoM there were people who actually died but “appealed” their deaths (wowhead didn’t care to make it clear that there were people non-soul of iron in the group anyway back then).
What will change is, if they get sloppy or if someone messes up they’ll end up wiping and losing their progress. Petri flask and leaving group can prevent that from happening, and it is what should be addressed tbh.

I never said I don’t care what you do. I asked if the OP has considered not caring what other people do, specifically as it relates to how other people play Classic.
