End the abuse in HC: Petri flask 5 min cd, dungeon teleport to 2 minutes

People have been abusing these mechanics in dungeons to escape guaranteed death.

I mean if disabling bubble heart was for a reason to avoid people overusing it, so does people abusing petrification flask and the dungeon teleport.

Being teleported out of the dungeon just because you left the group shouldn’t award you a free and safe exit outside.

For Classic Hardcore, the dungeon teleport should have a timer of 2 minutes and Petrification Flask should last its 1 minute and then have a 5-10 min cooldown, so the abusing will cease and people will be more careful and less exploitative.

Thanks for your time.

Edit:

Petri flasks should be the exception not the main consumable of every single player.

That’s a really cool opinion – could you re-post it on your Level 60 HC Character so we can be certain that you’re speaking from a position of being invested in your own idea?

You could start doing it yourself if that has anything to do with the thread anyway.

Bubble hearth benefitted one class so it has advantages over rest. Petri is available for all and fair in the sense that its available to all.

It does seem to break the spirit of rules of hardcore. I’d much rather see disconnect protection (30 seconds after you DC, you are auto ported to your hearth) than this petri flask->drop group cheese.

Funniest thing to me is that the same people who argue that you should stay dead even if you die because Blizzard’s servers went down will carry petri flasks and be ready to use them at a moment’s notice.

Reduce the time logged in when taking a Disconect? No, this is horrible, it will ruin the game.
Petri flasks a fake Bubble hearth its ok.
Improving something takes a lot of work. and Blizzard doesn’t want it.

Petrihearth is cheating 100%. Unfortunately, while it exists not using it as an individual cheats yourself, because even if you commit to not using it yourself other people aren’t going to do the same and that will cause them to behave differently. Sketchy situations that would have been ultimately fine will end in your death because others used it to escape. Even before they use it it’s changing their behavior because they’re devoting attention to the assessment of whether they should hit their hack macro instead of giving their all to live from the beginning.

Blizzard should break the ability to use it ASAP, but until they do you should keep one on you to use in the event that someone else uses one first. So far as I can figure that’s the most ethical decision right now.

The game is already stacked against all odds of surviving and was never made to be played hardcore. There is one item in the game that gives you an exit, and suddenly it’s the worst thing ever.

Bear in mind, although Petri is definitely the equivalent of a bubble hearth, there are still plenty of people dying from not using it when they should. Petri’s still require a level of skill and awareness to use effectively. Not to mention the gold required to use them consistently. Sure that’s not an issue for non-raiders, but when you’re blowing 100g a day on consumes, enchants, etc … it adds up. I think it’s fine.

It is fine. Its not cheating. Thats s ridiculous statement.

“I am upset that I died and others who were prepared didn’t.”

I get it, it feels bad but it’s not an exploit and not game breaking. It’s also not a guaranteed death if you can avoid it through legit, in game, means.

Cheesing one’s way out of a HC death doesn’t belong on the server just as much as alt+F4’ing doesn’t save you. This needs to be fixed.

I’d agree that alt+f4 is an exploit, wherein petri and ghetto hearth is not. If it’s solely game mechanics then I don’t consider it cheating or exploitive. However, if you’re exiting the games process to remove your character from the world quicker - yes that should be patched.

Well that’s the thing, it needs to be taken out of the game. Taken out just like soulstones were. It’s too cheesy. Doesn’t belong on HC.

How it is not.
Please explain to me that you’re out of the blue getting an exit of the dungeon, with dozens of mobs hitting you, and getting to safety.

With cooldown on petri and getto heart gone there is no cheese, chose your fate. If your group dies and you can’t get out you die along.

Nah.

It needs to be adjusted. Too much exploit.
If you’re thrown out of the bridge and your character falls in the lava or near dozens of mobs, you don’t get to “safely exit the dungeon by logging off” or “leaving party”. You’ll remain there until you either walk out of the dungeon or you use your heartstone.

The irony here is that petri flask gives Blizzard good reason to never do any DC protection. You know full well that 90% of the playerbase would have an off switch for their router within a second’s reach.

Can’t hit petri flask if you’re disconnected.
Diablo 4 scroll of town portal teleports you back into town safety immediately if you dc in season 2 diablo 4. They have the technology, just need to implement here.

Yeah they should fix petri. People are doing things that would cause the most ridiculous wipes and then 90% of the raid escapes with petris.

There was a video recently where a korean raid mispulled ebonroc while doing trash and he ran all over the raid, and you see the whole raid leaving group and petri.

You’ve got Mitch Jones doing completely idiotic stuff and half his bar is filled with petris so there’s no consequence except for the people in his group he wipes.

Ridiculous. It’s just completely against the spirit of hardcore and everyone knows it, but while its in the game its dumb not to use it. Blizzard are the only ones who can fix it.

The problem with HC is that it has become Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Everyone’s porridge is too hot or too cold.

HC is what it is, they can’t incorporate everyone’s personal favorite tweak. Just go play the game. If you don’t want to use a petri, don’t use them.

Soulstones were taken out for good reason. As this should be. Same dynamic.

I’m all for making it more difficult. Removing cheese just makes sense for HC. The entire mechanic to teleport out of dungeons/raids should be removed. Hearth/class skill/etc should be the only means of escaping other than the dungeons entrance/exit.
