Umm is right. Twitter is a mess right now
Because Elon Musk told them they actually had to work. God knows why you need 4500 people to work at a social media company in the first place.
Wait. Before the WFH loafers say anything ‘They were probably good, experienced people.’.
Musk is a lunatic whose other companies have special teams to un-fire people he decides to get rid of on a whim, as well as teams to keep him distracted so that people who actually do work can do so without his wacko interference.
He told employees that had to work hard and they all freaked out. How is he the lunatic?
Lol
Lucky for you … until the leadership changes you’ll get more servings of the same ol’ same ol.
RTO is silly IMO. If you don’t know how to make a highly engaged productive team from anywhere in the world then I guess this is where you end up.
I doubt Blizzard will have a hard time filling positions with eager game devs that want a big name on their resume. You know, so they can go somewhere else in a couple years.
Oh that’s not what makes him a lunatic.
It’s everything else about him that makes him a lunatic.
It’s like every person that WFH thinks they’re a highly engaged, productive person that can’t handle a commute like normal people in a job market oversaturated with ‘talent’ and ‘hungry’ workers ten years younger than them.
It’s more about upper management that’s had 3 years of record profits and now wants to strangle the golden goose that gave it to them.
Because they’re phenomenally stupid.
I can’t think of a time in my life, at least in a business setting, when this has ever been the case. I get people wanting to talk things out over voice communications to avoid the back-and-forth of written communications, Zoom/Teams can do video if that’s absolutely necessary (I don’t personally find it to be so), but I can’t think of a single instance in my life or very varied work experience where I was like, “I need to be able to smell this person’s semi-recent fart and see that they have a hair stuck to the corner of their mouth to really take in this information.”
Three years of record profits by not being open or generating revenue due to a world wide pandemic that had the government BEGGING those same upper management goons not to just cut all of you off for an even bigger payoff and just scooping up desperate ‘talented, veteran, and hard working’ people when the lockdowns lifted?
You don’t say.
This thread is wild.
Fact is, as long as you people are getting your WoW fix, most of you couldn’t care one way or the other with what’s happening to the employees lol.
I just hate pretending to care about things. I don’t care who makes WoW as long as WoW is good.
Really bad take on the whole issue, the core of the issue was for a lot of people it meant they could live with in their means. In that places closer to where they had to work were very expensive and their salaries could barely afford where they were living. Working from home meant they could move away to somewhere that they could afford to live. Being forced back into the office means that they either have to move again, or leave and find a job that can accommodate their needs.
It always seems like job expect you to accommodate their needs 24/7, when the truth is both need to accommodate each other. In which not allowing people to work from home, is the dumbest thing blizzard is currently doing. As some of course would be able to go into the office, yet the ones that can’t afford to live close by due to low salaries its not practical to work the job anymore.
So yeah, not a case of not wanting to, they simply can’t due to costs and lack of a proper salary to afford it.
It’s like people assume that every industry and job is the same, and there aren’t tons of roles that are hurting for experienced people no matter when and how they do the work.
Boo-hoo! We have to return to the office!!!
And it’s like people assume every job is like a craftsman skill where experience is the deciding factor when in reality the ‘experience’ threshold is three years of sitting behind a desk using the preferred software the company wants you to use.
There’s a reason why Master Plumbers exist. No one’s ever heard of a Master Software Engineer.
There are plenty of jobs out there for highly qualified people, jobs that pay more and have better working conditions, ie, don’t require people to live in an extremely expensive area or commute for hours.
The best people will leave. The people that stay are the ones who have fewer job options. That’s how it works in every business.
The applications you run for office work must be very user friendly or simple
They put on a big “outrage” show back in 2021 when the sexual-harrassment scandal broke, but most of those posters are mysteriously still here/still paying a sub
So much for voting with their wallet
Most people don’t. The main problem has been how all the negativity in the offices have potentially affected the game in recent expansions.
