Employee Alpha Testing for WoW Classic

that would probably be a bad move because alot of the kids who played classic are adults with there own kids now and may want them to play it together. I think the release will be in july maybe late june. if they go for an august release im not sure how it will do. However If 8.2 content goes through a drought I think thats when they will try and release wow classic to try and soften the blow.

Its coming was fortold by j r harell of caldwell banker.

I’m so excited for this that I’m happy for any word at all. Thanks

I really don’t get why you (Blizzard) aren’t being more transparent about your timeline, whether or not there will be a BETA or PTR drop, etc. unless it’s for competitive advantage against other games. If the latter is the case, you should say so. If you’re not sure, then say “We’re not sure of a release at this time, but this is our best guess estimate.” I’m sorry but, “summer” is just a bit too abstract. Seems less than empathetic to an excited player base who is looking to coordinate guilds and schedules. So…why? If you’re not going to get specific on schedules, at least explain why.

Nailing down to a quarter until they’re sure of a release date is standard practice in the gaming industry. How is it being abstract?

Indeed. It would be quite irresponsible for them to give a more concrete release date when the product just entered alpha.

I’d much rather have “sometime in this three-month period” than “exactly June 20th; better hope what we have then isn’t still a buggy mess!”

This is a misnomer. They have been in “alpha” phases since 2017. The deployment test phase was just a testing phase, and now its over and they’re continuing on with other work.

People saying “Beta is next!” or making any sort of timeline based on them doing a deployment test is very rough at best.

Very true, this is indeed a franken patch.

So you expect a release date “Summer” which is coming up but you haven’t even started a beta and there is not even an official website for wow classic. I’m expecting this to not come out until 2020.

Who says there will be a beta?

Drop the beta and launch expectations are on time.

There may very well be a Classic Website created, just flip a switch when it’s time…as far as beta, I suppose there may be one…but not necessarily a long one given what will be available at launch . There isn’t a bunch of balancing to do, they know the original numbers, they’re not forced down some rabbit hole trying to balance new abilities for retail type esports.

False.

Red Dead 2 was announced in June for the October release.
NHL 19 release date was announced in June for a September release.

Just picking two that I’ve played today, i’m sure I can find more examples.

Congratulations. You’ve found examples of companies who are sure of meeting their release date. Are you really that unable to read the words?

This statement is not false. I’m quite sure that Rockstar and EA Vancouver were sure of their release date when they released it. If they weren’t, they, like Blizzard, would have waited until they were.

Oh? Do people actually prefer Cosmetics of Mountcraft? How can you like something that feels like they performed taxidermy on the original thing with a chainsaw! It baffles me!

Rub it in our faces that you can play it and we can not!!!

This sounds like a great Mobile game. Someone should get on that.

Do you guys not have phones?

You’re being naive, but that’s OK. Let’s agree to disagree and just accept that Blizzard is sure that it will be hot outside when the game is ready to release. :joy:
