Not naive, just not a Blizzard hating cynic. I trust them to produce a good game, and “back in the day” the catchphrase was “When it’s ready” and we accepted that.
A closed alpha now should put them on schedule for a friends and family alpha RELEASE sometime this summer. GREAT, right on time. a Beta RELEASE maybe in September would put us in for a November FINAL RELEASE.

Friends and family is a phase that comes before closed, typically.
Closed is when they start inviting players to test, but it is closed to anyone that isn’t invited.
Kind of the only reason I’m still paying haha, I’m barely logging in right now. Sad but true. I’m trying to bring myself to play the recent content just to catch up on the lore but it’s weird like I can’t make myself do it. I know the major plot points but not the finer details, who died, who didn’t, etc.
Mostly when I play now it’s to do stuff with pets or mount collecting. lol

I am predicting, on the basis of zero evidence, that there will be beta invites for Memorial Day weekend. I just want to record this baseless prediction in case it comes true.

November in the northern hemisphere will be a winter release…maybe Blizzard is shifting its HQ to South East Asia.
In preparation for it’s Summer 2020 mobile platform releases across all game titles.

That’s never been a requirement for a WoW beta.
Blizzard is simply being smart with their marketing with each week addressing an area of concern regarding the implementation of Classic.
Why? Because everything else is already known about the game. Things like release, beta, ptr, etc are all really HUGE news when there is nothing else to really share.
So they need to be prudent in when and how they release it in order to keep and build the hype.
If they told us everything today… then not a peep for months you would be less happy than now… and worse yet… nothing would be building hype and excitement.
At least this way… a new post builds excitement by 10 points… in a week it drops maybe 3-4 points… but then another 10 pointer is dropped. It’s slowly building towards release… and that’s all that matters.

True but by this idea release would be soon because only 2 things aren’t announced.
There are lots of things that can be announced/sahred, not just two things. I suspect that all will be released except the “real” last two items… when does beta start and what is the release date.
This because beta will be enough to start the streamer/youtube hype train in full force and last until release.

So initially no beta was the answe but it looks like they are pushing for a area by area beta now.
