Embers of Fyr'alath Empowered - February 20

This would be the fair and right thing to do, so you know there is absolutely no shot they do this.

this
got to do LFR
then normal
then heroic

Yep. I’ve seen post after post of “oh 10 people in my guild have it now after the fix” congrats, now tons of people will have it. How “legendary”

And there are STILL some people complaining. They will not be happy until it is handed to them when they log on to the game

Nah there was a DDoS and it was likely aimed to get them to increase the buff chance. DDoS are impossible to catch and impossible to stop. Much easier for them to do this than deal with the damages of the attack.

No. No you don’t have to do that at all :joy:

you do if you want more chances

I find Blizzard incompetence to be a more likely explanation than some malicious actor DDoSing them so they change Fyralath drop %'s.

Sure we are. We still dont have it on our mains and we are seeing people get it on third and fourth alts. Healing and tank mains - that never play dps - loot it over dps mains. Boosted toons in greens looting it off their first kill in lfr over main toons that have cleeard the raid since week 1.

We dont want it gift wrapped, we just wanted it early enough in the season to have made an actual difference in the content that was being pushed/progressed at the time.

We also didnt want to be tuned around having this item from the beginning of the tier so much that every class that can use it needed significant buffs to even break even with non leggo users after having looted the leggo.

Its never a great feeling that if your class gets access to a potential item you might as well reroll to another class for that season then jump onto it towards the end - or make multiple alts of that same class and just play whatever one looted it - and thats exactly how this leggo system for thee last 2 tiers has worked.

I sympathize with the frustration everyone has been expressing, RNG has never felt good in any game I’ve ever played. Furthermore, the entire design philosophy of having excessive RNG to preserve the so called “moment of joy” when something finally does drop is incredibly flawed because when something is artificially made this rare the feeling you get when you do finally get it is relief not joy and that’s a completely different emotion. If preserving joy was their goal I think it’s fair to say they’ve completely failed and it’s plain for everyone to see.

P.S. Having followed this months long battle of wills as a caster without a horse in the race has only highlighted the fact that casters have not had a legendary since Cataclysm, but maybe we should be happy about that because we were spared the frustration of trying to get one? LOL!

TBH I’d prefer a very long quest chain and gathering over many many lockouts of raids rather than luck of a drop from a boss.

I think the Rogue Daggers, Shadowmourne, and Tarecosa staff were all fairly well done and should’ve been the base for legendaries going forward.

Right, so you’re saying “xyz” person got it, but I don’t have it. So I’m not happy, and won’t be happy until I get it and all the people I think deserve it, have it. That’s why I’m saying at this point just put it for sale at the vendors. 10k gold and you will 100% have the most powerful weapon for that class.

This 100%. Make the aquisition feel legendary, something work towards over a season.

All other criticisms aside, thank you for listening to feedback and adjusting course.

3 months really ? You want it at the beginning of the season, people are so ungrateful

Seems like too short of a period of time in my opinion. Also, when RNG is involved, it doesn’t matter how much excellence you display, unless performance influences your roll chances.

Sounds nice in theory, but doesn’t seem to be panning out too well in practice!

Glad to hear about the buffs to the Embers still.

Yes.

So I’m not competitive, and won’t be competitive until I get it and all the people that are significantly undertuned because they can have it, have it.

Going into Season 4 of Dragonflight will you be having a drop or a way to upgrade Fyralath and the Evoker legendaries to a higher item level?

It being the final season of Dragonflight it would make sense to allow us to continue to use the items we worked to craft.

Uhhh, can’t any random apathetic casual player get the Legendaries from LFR or Normal Raids?

Then how does that make Legendaries “a display of excellence in the most challenging content”??

It’s not like the only way to get the Legendary is by defeating the Mythic Raid End Boss or getting a modern-day equivalent to the “Undying” Raid Achievements. Any random “Rat-Alt” can get the Legendary in what is arguably trivially easy Content.

The only thing that Legendaries display is the wielder’s RNG / Luck, and that player’s willingness to queue for the last boss of the Raid… Oh and their willingness to shell-out a WoW-Token’s worth of Gold.

A player could literally obtain the Legendaries just by being there when the boss was pulled, getting lucky, then spending $20 on a Token.

It’s not like the way you obtain the Legendaries is by doing some long epic solo quest that is difficult and requires mastery of your entire toolkit, like the original Vanilla Hunter Epic quests.

I would have far more respect for wielders of the Legendaries if the way to obtain them was by getting Mage Tower Achievements.

If this Blue-Statement isn’t just some BS Public Relations “Damage Control”, and the Developers truly have the goal stated in the post when creating Legendaries, then the Developers failed nearly as hard as they possibly could in achieving that goal.

Is it all just a big old Placebo?

Did the Developers know that it was Rogue’s, DH’s, and Caster’s turn to be top damage, and so to quell the Plate-Melee’s who would understanbly be upset at being on the bottom of the meters, Blizzard whipped up this sorry excuse for a Legendary so everyone could point to it and say: “Don’t worry, you’ll be doing top damage again once you get the Axe!”?

Personally, even though Plate-Classes are my favorite to play and what I usually Main, I went out of my way to actively avoid playing Plate this tier because I knew my Class would be crap without the pointless Legendary.

Personally, if my Main Class gets a Legendary it makes me not want to play at all that Season, more so than just about anything else. Because I know that for the entire Season my value to a Group will be determined by my ability to win the Lottery, and any of my characters that don’t get the Legendary will artificially perform worse.

If the Developers can only be bothered to put this much “effort” into designing future Legendaries, then please just stop wasting everyone’s time.

Please just don’t make Legendaries at all if this is how you are going to implement them.

Matt Mercer’s performance deserved better than this.

The Player base deserves better than this.

If you’re going to keep making Legendaries, put some bloody effort into them.

Bland Gold-Sink-Placebos-In-Disguise “Legendaries” are somewhat acceptable when every Class gets multiple like in Legion or Shadowlands.

Bland Gold-Sink-Placebos-In-Disguise “Legendaries” are NOT acceptable when there is only one created per Raid Tier.

It’s sad because I don’t even want to log into the game anymore. The game I’ve loved for fifteen years now. It’s not because I’m entitled - I just don’t like the feeling of knowing I’m artificially handicapped - because luck wasn’t on my side yet. I thought I was supposed to be protected from bad luck. But that’s not what this feels like.

I see screenshots of 5-6 dropping in a raid…and now it feels even worse.

Nice, I can feel the placebo running strong through my veins now.
