That momentary high seeing you have a email from Blizzard during a Beta stage, then the incredible low once you realize it’s a email about the current sale ending soon. For a moment I was excited, but back to my hospice care regiment. Really hoping for an invite it would be a ray of sunshine in the gloom of my failing health.
After reading your post I double checked my emails to see if I ever got an invite. No email at all. Oh well too bad.
Then I thought… let’s check the battle.net launcher… and I see Dragonflight Beta… I can actually play it…
I’ve been checking the launcher too, no luck though.
I don’t even think the sale included WoW stuff. Was wondering if I’d be able to snag a mount or pet, but no go.
I never get emails for alpha/beta stuff. Just check the launcher tab every few days, or whenever a wave goes out.
I got beta access. Even though I didn’t opt in to it. ( I don’t remember if I did opt in or didn’t but even so I got beta)
Wait are you working in hospice care or are you a patient of hospice care?!
Patient in home hospice care.
I am so sorry, I really hope they let you into it! Maybe try writing them about it, might get them to give you access.
Have tried and been given the canned response of its random and no one seems to want to pass it to someone who may be able to do something about it. With my health declining as it is due to heart and kidney failure I’ll be lucky to see it go live. So here I am holding my breath and crossing fingers but with how my lucks been this last year I’m probably S.O.L. Even tried to reach out to other departments I could find contact info for and didn’t even get responses from those.
Considering the amount of bugs relating to the talents at the moment, I can say that, trust me, you wouldn’t find it all that much fun. Without talents the classes have basically no spells or abilities, which is fine if you are playing a level 10. But at 60 on a copied character it is torture to go through the whole rebuild-of-talents, have to log off, come back and bam, all gone, do it all over again.
Its extremely difficult to test anything if your toon has no abilities to test with.
There will be more invites sent out over time and perhaps you will get in when they have this damned issue fixed.
It would be something to do other than sit and dwell on my days left being shorter and shorter and be a nice distraction from the everpresent funk of knowing your dying. But I guess it’s perspective.
Here’s hoping for a peaceful and love filled transition into your next cosmic adventure Lucefeous. Sorry to hear you’re facing this difficult chapter of mortality.
My money is on the bet that in the end of it all, you get to -be- the star swirled soul dragon, not just play the video game version of one. <3
“sale ends tomorrow”
is there a way to opt out of that crap?
i pay to play this thing stop trying to sell me stuff lol
Better luck next time!
I got an email just a couple days ago with blurbs advertising all 3 classic WoWs. There’s only 2 of those now!
So uh… lack of communication to the marketing team, leak of a perpetual BC classic server, well-disguised fraudulent email…?
Yeah you’re definitely getting your hopes up if you think anybody is at Blizz working on sending out Beta invites:
- On a holiday weekend
- Less than a week after the first wave
Well
-
Didn’t realize it was a weekend let alone a holiday, you kind of lose track of days when your terminal and stuck at home and don’t get to go out.
-
Refer to point number one and repeate it, the concept of days and time sort of become ambiguous and a day can seem like an eternity when you have nothing really to do.
But big of you to be so understanding.
But that all being said I doubt I’ll get an invite my luck isn’t that good (short of someone who can do something sees this before my health declines too much to be able to even be able to play due to loss of cognitive and physical ability.)
I think they should just open it up for a mass beta. The feedback they get will be much better as well as the data compared to a tiny group of people.
Would you rather have 10,000 hours of play testing or 1,000,000 hours of play testing and people breaking much more? Expecially when you could change certain things earlier before official release if they are an issue.
The test servers don’t have that kind of capacity. They handle all Beta participants across the world, not just a normal server size like we have. Further, they have a lot of data collection software running in real time. The number of participants is limited to what QA and the Devs need for testing.
They do invite streamers, guide writers, websites though so others can see some of what is going on - and of course for promotional purposes. If people don’t get lucky to get in, at least they can read about or watch some of it.
Open Beta is where they let in everyone but that is not for finding bugs. That is to stress test the servers and such so hopefully it does not go belly up on launch.
I don’t know if Blizzard will do an Open Beta or not.
Blizzard also does not take individual requests for access. They have, in the past, partnered with Make A Wish to allow a player some special access, a quest, etc. I don’t think they have any current partnerships with hospice programs/hospitals/charities that would gain patients access to Betas. It is not a bad idea actually. Game companies could certainly get some positive PR by partnering with hospitals and the patients would have something engaging to focus on instead of hospice care. Win for everyone I would think.
