For years now, we have had to suffer with the game being in constant nighttime because Blizzard decided to randomly shift our server time zone to match the US one with no explanation as to why.
We have complained for years now asking for a fix, with one of the easiest options being a potion that turns night to day (much like the Inky Black Potion)
For years we have been ignored by Blizzard. One blue post in 2016 with the usual bs statement of “we are listening” and that was it. And now this potion is made within days of RPers having their precious addon broken.
They were abusing a system that allowed them to circumvent a rule that Blizzard imposed on the factions and within hours they have people working on a potion to make them happy but we in the Oceanic region get nothing. We never have our questions about the issue addressed in Q&As. Ion and the rest of the crew refuse to speak to us about or do anything to make the issue better!
I am so tired of Blizzards utter contempt for those of us outside the US. I am angry that almost everyday you can log into the forums and see another blue post in an stupid thread about cats or some other irrelevant subject but not a single one of them has the common decency to talk to us about something that effects our gameplay.
Why can Blizzard so quickly ignore their own rules and make a potion like this for a small amount of players but cant do the same for another group of players? I forgot, its because the RP addon was used by US players and god forbid the US players be inconvenienced huh?
You made a potion to keep RPers happy, you made a potion to make those who wanted darker nights happy, then you made nights darker than ever before in BfA but you couldnt give a fat rats about those of us who never get to play the zones in daylight!
Uhh, no, that’s not how that works. Again, the effect to understand all languages is already built into the game. They merely had to create a consumable with a duration that provides that effect.
The Inky Black Potion specifically turns everything dark. That is an individual effect.
Additionally it’s one set dark skybox for everywhere you go. It isn’t an item that changes the zone’s individual skybox to night, it just replaces the skybox with a black one. I doubt the OP wants the exact same daytime sky in every single zone they’re in.
Meanwhile sharding constantly changes the weather and day and night. Blizz need a new system that has weather and time based on the player not the realm or shard.
Theres a lot of thing in game that would require a small amount of effort to fix and Blizzard does it.
By your logic nothing should ever get fixed because if its not already in the game then why bother right?
If Blizzard can make a potion that makes thing darker and changes the skybox, then I cant really imaging it being that much harder to make one that does the opposite.
I know that your probably a US player so unless it directly effects you then you think its a non issue that no one should care about. But it is an issue.
At the end of the day my issue lies with the fact that for YEARS we have been trying to speak to Blizzard about the day night cycle problem and they just ignore us but when a few RPers cry over their addon being broken, big daddy Ion jumps in to save the day to make it look he did something!
sensory depravation changes a person lol. I will admit It gets old playing in the dark. Unless you play at “odd hours” your TZ. I don’t see the sun in Japan in game till about 2400 ish local time.
Assuming my daily routines of work/family I don’t see the sun except for Fri/Sat night when I can play real late at night.
Well to be fair, it made no sense that we couldn’t understand one another. I mean have you seen a translator used in any of the animations with both factions in them? Anduin and Saurfang seemed to understand one another just fine.
Probably the only reason it was never added was they feared the cross faction trash talking would be an issue.
Hi, this is called a strawman. Please don’t use strawman arguments. They’re not smart.
Again, it changes everything to one single skybox. They don’t change by zone, and that effect took a long time to make when they were asked for it.
And you’re comparing apples to oranges, because again, the two are very different situations. So no, the Elixir of Tongues is not a slap in anybody’s face. It was something easy to execute that a vast swath of the community wanted.
What you’re asking for is something difficult to execute that a vast swath (presumably) of the community wants. Not the same.
I never said it shouldnt exist. Im not upset that Blizzard has given the RPers a fix to their problem. Im upset because Blizzard instantly worked on a solution for them but when it comes to us in the Oceanic region, they have done literally nothing.
So it really wouldnt be that difficult to modify it and make a daylight version. They could just take a preexisting daylight skybox from literally anywhere in the game and activate that when you use the potion.
True, the elixir it self isnt. But Blizzards instant response to finding a fix to these while refusing to speak to us or do anything for us in the Oceanic region is the slap in the face.
Again, the problem more than likely doesnt effect you but I guarantee that if you were on my end and had seen the years of being ignored you would be singing a different tune.
Just because it may or may not be difficulty doesnt excuse the fact that Blizzard have ignored us. That they refuse to speak to us, tell us why they made the change or offer anything other than a half arsed line of “oh if we did do some changes then you might see guards walking around in the day with torches”
As if that is some kind of insurmountable obstacle that is so immersion breaking! Oh but its ok to have guards NOT walk around with torches if you use the inky black potion.
I refuse to believe that making an opposite to the Inky Black potion would be in anyway a difficult thing since fundamentally the coding is there already. It would be just a simple matter of a new sky box and turning up the lights.
Pretend all you want that it is some super difficult, nigh-impossible task but the inky black potion exists so it stands to reason that half the work is done already.
