Just had a conversation with alliance as a horde character. My world will never be the same.
I’ve noticed a lot fewer people using /say now. It’s been said, give a man a mask and he’ll show you his true face.
Back in the day (vanilla/tbc range) you could use custom emotes to do this.
I have missed that.
edit: spelling and grammer
I remember this. I also remember using special combinations of letters to make words appear for the other faction. haven’t seen people doing this much anymore.
I know that back in the day, we used to use the addon - Tongues for any cross-faction stuff and it was sometimes a bit tedious. There were times when one of us would bring in another character to act as interpreter in our private chat channels - it was fun but this looks so much easier to deal with.
Perhaps this will lead to getting rid of the language barrier.
Do both players have to have the elixir for it to work?
At the moment no. I was questing in outland and some alliance randomally started chatting with me.
For it to work both ways yes. YOu can understand them if you have the elixir, but they can not understand you if they do not (AFAIK).
I hate that I have to speak in Orcish for the opposite faction to understand me though.
I didn’t have the elixir and they they could still understand me
Oh, cool. Even better than i thought then. Most excellent, thank you for the clarification.
Woah there, now you’re asking for lore breaking.
Learning another language is not easy to be fluent in and it is fine that the elves have the same universal elven language…
If it were only this easy in real life to speak another language.
I guess this is why they broke CrossRP, wanted to turn it into an ingame gold sink.
They said it was for security reasons Sevaryn.
Honestly thats what I thought BfA was leading up to, getting rid of faction barriers but keeping a red v blue thing only for pvp related stuffs.
Don’t bring too much attention to it, Blizzard will see you’re having fun and nerf it
