Except in PvE servers you get to walk by the opposing faction wave at them, help them kill their mob and walk away.
Thats not war. That’s not faction conflict… that’s being a lame duck and not wanting to deal with the experience of fighting other players and being in your safe space.

What opposing faction? I can’t walk by horde NPC’s on a pve server, they’ll attack me. Horde vs Alliance is very much a thing on PvE servers.
All pvp servers do is give you a set of people to grief by ganking.
Ganking has been a part of every MMO since they were started…

Well, not so much an accident. But you owe only one person on the original team that pvp exist, and that’s Mark Kern. During the Classicast interview with Mark Kern and John Staats, they told that originally, it wasn’t the plan to put in pvp. Mark Kern kept advocating for it though, until the others basically got tired of him, and threw it in there. Accident? No, Thought 100% through? Also no.

At the end of the day most people who play on pvp servers would be just as happy with no rules on who you could gank.

I didn’t when I first rolled on a PVP realm. So imagine my shock when I rolled into Ganklethorn for the first time. My god… it was annoying as hell.
PVP can go die in a fire for all I care. Only reason I’m not saying it should is because War Mode has no place in Classic.

The people that sit and gank you for hours on end are the butt hurt whom dont have the ability or skill to play their characters

Yeah, if I’m on a PVP realm and someone is ganking me because they’re hoping I’ll sic my guildies or my main on them… they’re gonna be disappointed because I’m not feeling inclined to give them what they want at that point.

But that’s not at all the majority of any pvp server ever. Yes, people get ganked but far more roll pvp servers simply for their love for pvp. Rather they are on the short end of the stick or not

And there are a number of open world FFA arena’s for glatatorial type shenanigans in multiple places (NOW) the first and most amazingly notable one being the STV arena. I spent a long time there fighting people of all faction and inclination
