In the beginning, until you understand your class better, only roll Need on items for your class (as an example, mages wear intellect cloth–but it gets rather complex; just try to know what you’re supposed to be looking for) and that is an upgrade for you. Then roll Greed or Pass (close the window) on everything else.
LOL, pretty much.
No really though, when I wrote “but it gets rather complex; just try to know what you’re supposed to be looking for” I was referring to all the crazy exceptions in gearing found in vanilla, like holy paladins and resto druids/shaman wearing cloth; warriors, hunters and maybe enhancement shaman (?) wearing leather-- and stuff like that.
I think it’s a good practice to tell a new-ish person to take care about what they roll on until they know exactly what they’re doing and what they’re supposed to be gearing.
Take Ziryus for example. He is a seasoned player, leveling as an Arms warrior to switch to tanking at 60, who knows it’s beneficial to roll on that cloth +31 “…of Frozen Wrath” piece against the frost mage in the group, because that piece has a lot more armor than his current plate chest with Strength and Stamina.
No, let’s not take that. I’m being silly. It’s an exaggeration to serve as an illustration.
You’re not sounding elitist. You’re sounding like you want to pave a way that’s emotionally stable and safe for you and others like you when you start playing Classic.
Those aren’t rules. No one has to /roll for anything. No one has to buff random players. And you definitely do NOT need to give other players a “right of way” when they’re attacked when gathering nodes.
Is there something called etiquette? Yes. Are there such things as unspoken rules? Absolutely. But both are NOT obligatory, never were, and players should feel free to screw anyone over at any time in order to get a leg up in any sort of situation.
You want to be elitist? Then preach the idea of free will and let people play how they want to. This is how MANY people played, including myself;
By making personal calls to either be nice, or be realistic. Or in this case, your definition of realistic may be rude. It may be mean. Terrible. Callus, thoughtless, heartless. This list can go on and on.
And at the end of the day, I’m willing to say sure. I’m willing to agree with all of the above. It is what it is though.
Sometimes you get it.
And sometimes you get got.
There will be times where you yourselves will get it. There will be other times when you all will get got as well. Same for me. Same for everyone. Noobs included.
Play how you will. Let the chips fall where they may and have fun.
This is being elitist. Take what you can get. If you’re itching to be nice, then do it. Do what it takes to get the best stuff you can get. There’s greatness to be had in being a dirtbag scumlord lousy PoS elitist.
Help others learn the same way you learned, by communication and patience.
An elitist is someone who thinks they’re better than others. In my experience they rarely offer help and are overall toxic to the community, they may be “good”, but personally I’d rather run with a full group of green noobs that I have to teach everything to and wipe a few times than play 5 minutes with the “good” elitist.
Yeah and WoW is a pve game, the engine was designed for pve, that you could attack the other faction on some realms was an after sight and just thrown in as a gimmick.
WoW pvp is painfully bad when looked at from a purely objective state, which is why it’s always failed as an esport.
Lol? The whole premise of World of Warcraft was the whole “horde vs the alliance” theme… “Pvp in wow was an accident and blizz decided to just throw it in”
LOLOL. I would really love to see a proof of this claim…
AND
as far as esports go, they really got a large follow WELL after Vanilla was over and it wasnt until TBC/Wrath and arena;s were really popular that it became an esport of any level.
You’re comparing one thing to another that arent even remotely similar and I am 100% certain you’re just straight trolling now.
Also certain based on your QQQQQ "but, wow is a PvE gaaaaaaame, why cant I just have the PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER REWARDS by farming them with in game currency like they changed it to after AQ was released and we had the ability to just purchase T2 quality epics for AFKing in AV because I dont think wow pvp is real and i just want the shiny gear and not place any effort into it what so ever
Failed as an esport, but in the hands of players who just want to kill enemy players for fun, it’s successful. Just because Blizz sees something that they made isn’t wildly bankable and viable as an esport doesn’t mean it’s not as good as something that is.
It just means Blizz is always going to put it to the wayside and build upon it later when players rise enough of a stink about it or an aspect of it.
