Loving the thorough testing and Blue engagement in all this, totally fun.
I was a bit shocked and confused watching Wowhead’s run of Deadmines yesterday. Constant chain pulling and Elites going down like nothing. Oops accidentally chain pulled the goblins into the chainsaw boss, no big deal, went down in no time.
Definitely felt off, but I have nothing subjective to back it up. Will be wild to find out Vanilla was really that easy the whole time. I must have been terrible.
I never remember chain pulling in any dungeon in Vanilla. They were never “easy” no matter what patch you played on. We’ll see what happens in the higher level dungeons.
If we’re going to argue semantics, we’ll be here all year and never come to a consensus.
A decent tank can assess how a group will do on the first pull of a pack, if the healers mana didn’t drop below half odds are you can pull 2-3 packs before taking a short break for them to recharge, that is still chain pulling as it is multiple packs of mobs.
yeah, Arugal was your first real wake-up Boss out of the early dungeons. Verdan COULD be, but if your tank had pretty good armor for his level, you’d be fine since he deals physical damage.
You sucked back then. So did all of us. You can perfectly and painstakingly recreate the game, but you can’t unlearn how to play as well as modern players, play.
I was bad back then. Everyone else was bad back then. Yeah sure, after a year of actively raiding towards the end of Vanilla, I was good and so were most of the people playing with me. That’s why lowbie stuff seemed so hard- everyone was terrible.
That’s to say nothing of playing with awful internet and computers. I played with over 400 ping on a laptop half the time and got by relatively fine. Add to that the fact that lots of kids played back then. Plenty of experienced players now were barely into their teens when they started or younger still. It’s a whole other layer of difficulty added to the group experience.
No idea why people are so upset over a leveling dungeon damage from bosses. It’s been said many times Blizzard have the code /data from 1.12 so mobs should be doing the correct damage. Yes the leveling dungeons are easy, but they are just that leveling dungeons and the ones later on are a bit harder.
Edit:
Also the game changed so much during Vanilla, Blizzard was buffing and nerfing a lot of things back then due to WoW being relative new.

Clear case of nostalgia… vanilla dungeon were easy. sorry to break your bubble.
