To be fair, one mob’s damage being correct doesn’t mean all mobs’ damage is correct.
However, I have no reason not to believe that Blizzard has ways of checking this stuff that is better than comparing videos from 2006 with videos from 2019. Things like server logs and documentation.
Classic was never going to cover the overall experience, Blizzard covered that with their very first statements about Classic. Basically put, if you joined late its going to be much closer to your original experience, if you joined early, not so much.
The fact is when they announced they were going to pick a patch and base everything around it we knew this is what we woukd be getting. Now we may have some bugs that are causing things to be too easy, but I have a strange feeling it has more to do with when you leveled and why that feeling of not right exists.
I got a friend who does machinima to help me test it out on a stock mangos pserver, nothing special was done and yet the damage is actually lower than the tests shown above.

now it’s possible some of the more famous ones do some tweaking, but I’m guessing they don’t change much. Which just goes to show once again pirate servers are not vanilla and while close, are not and never will be it’s match.
I bing’d some old instances, there’s pages going back to 2005 and 2006 with damage numbers for abilities and such. I’m not in the beta so someone else can look it up.
Keep in mind you are comparing your memory of random quest greens in this dungeon against a group of level 30s who cant gain exp, and have been farming the best gear 30s can get. These guys have all the good blue/greens you can for a 30. Imagine taking 5 twinks to fight some elites 4-5 levels higher than you. This is vastly different from your random group going in with missing item slots of equipment, low level greens, and maybe 1 blue.
Beta warlocks, test if you can solo more than 3 elite mobs with voidwalker + fears as affliction spec and gratuitous life drains.
If it’s more than that you probably have an issue. If not then it’s probably people playing better.
Source, i leveled in STV multi dot pulling the elite ogres in STV @ level in vanilla as an affliction lock.
False, some classes couldn’t.
Warriors and paladin can’t for sure.
Rogues with full CDs can sometimes.
Warlocks 100% can.
Mages should be able to kite kill.
BM hunters for sure can.
Shamans can possibly kite kill?
Priests, highly doubtful
Druids… probably?
Interesting. I my experience, the DPS of the Elite against my healthpool vs. MY dps vs the elite’s healthpool would always end up in me being dead first unless I used potions, slowed, ran away, bandaged, and used CD’s to survive. TBH I probably played warrior poorly, but IDK that’s why I was asking.
