Elf fans. Do you still want High Elves?

That’s the point. You are acting like only your opinion is rational.

Dunno why you’re trying to engage a dude who got told off by Blizzard employees for trying to impersonate them on Twitter in good faith, homie.

I’m impressed it’s legit like you read my mind and then put it into a reply.

I was juggling two headcanoners there, I can’t be on top of my game all the time.

you can talk to me then.
so the question was - why not just play the race you want that already exists, instead of asking for a copy of it? cause truth be told, i’m not a big fan of horde lore and aesthetics. some of it is really interesting and some of it is…well, not my cup of tea. to be sure there are points in alliance lore and aesthetics i dont like either, but they are fewer and farther between, so more tolerable.

i prefer the traditional elf concept, so yeah i’m boring milk toast. i admit it. and i kinda like it that way.

I don’t think not wanting to play a specific faction is a good enough reason to demand a race from said faction. There have been plenty of requests for such things, draenei/eredar for example.

Unless they dissolve factions altogether, no one else is being catered to in this regard.

That’s because void elves are almost the embodiment of a monkey’s paw wish. What exacerbates this is the history of the blood elf requests on top of being presented on a garbage can lid (to use an old Bill Cosby analogy).

Okay, where is this mentality coming from? Do we need to go over the facts again?

  • People asked for playable high elves on Alliance
  • Blizzard gave a bunch of excuses for not doing it, mainly that there aren’t enough of them to justify a playable race
  • Blizzard inserts them in a bunch of places and makes them visible, then continues to use the aforementioned excuses despite their actions contradicting their main excuse
  • Allied races become a thing, meant to nullify the main excuse (one of the big selling points of Allied Races was that it would allow Blizzard to add groups that are considered too small to warrant the full race treatment)
  • Blizzard then pulls void elves out of their collective rear ends and expects Alliance players to just shut up and like it
  • Void elves are not unanimously accepted
  • People like you are somehow surprised by this

The short version is that people asked for something, Blizzard started with excuses for not giving them, then tried to push a poorly-conceived alternative in hopes it would be enough. It wasn’t, and so here we are.

You’d have to go back in time to when Wrath was still in development, sit Chris Metzen down and tell him to not create the Silver Covenant and introduce all thalassian elves as Blood Elves moving forward. That would have stopped this entire sequence of events.

Granted, if you could travel back in time, you might also want to tell him to introduce Pandaren as NPCs in Cataclysm so that they don’t come out of nowhere and draw all those stupid Kung Fu Panda comparisons once Mists comes out. And also tell him to not force the Alliance/Horde war into Mists, since that forced conflict ruined a good chunk of the setting and story for that expansion.

i asked for half elves, i asked for, at the very least, new stances, hairstyles and idle animations for potential helfs so that they were distinguishable from blood elves, but still high elves/generic elves. instead we got …unusual blue blood elves, i’ll call it that, with a serious case of medusa head. hehe in full gear they were indistinguishable from blood elves. i did not ask for that but thats what we got. now we can look like normal elves (woot) and if the church quit trying to kick me out, and we got more hairstyles, i’d be happy camper. pretty happy now.

p.s. i still have tentacle dangling from my pony tail. looks kinda cool but if it were replaced with a braid, call it a wrap!

It’s not just about wanting to play a race on a particular faction because you don’t want to play it on another faction. As I said, it’s about the race making sense on a particular faction in addition to the other. If something makes sense to happen, it should happen.

Horde humans when?

No joke I really want Alterac to join the Horde and take on the pirates from bfa that helped the Horde.

that’d be interesting and would increase potential questing hubs in horde territory

Maybe if they made humans look better I might consider wanting this.
