I’m not even paying 5 digits for the recipe. It isn’t even about recuperating my “investment”…it’s simply not rewarding people with gold they do not deserve simply because they lucked out.
Everything should be on a vendor for currency earned by doing those activities. I’m fine if there is an alternate RNG drop/path to it, but there should always be a set way those dedicated enough to work for it can have too. But simply paying someone 6+ digits simply because RNG favored them? Frick no.
Yep, for months I used to kill every single storm rare that spawned, hoping for Bottled Essence, the Lariat recipe, or at least an illusion recipe to drop, but all I ever get is 50 rep and maybe a low-iLvl piece of gear that I can’t even equip.
The rares take too long, given how low the drop chance is for something meaningful.
I honestly think that Blizzard tuned the health of these rares for megaraids, and made the drop chance low assuming that people would be farming for 12 hours a day.
It’s probably going to be more difficult now than ever before because they made it so if there’s ever a storm happening, it’s the only one. Not sure what was the point of taking options away when storms weren’t giving anything that couldn’t be obtained more efficiently from the Forbidden Reach—except for profession recipes.
I’ve been farming for this since the primal storms were introduced with no luck. Why is this not available via a vendor at this point. I’d happly hand over my entire purse of overflow at this point just to craft it for guildies. Boy did I pick the worst profession for DF! Regret
Does lariat out compete a heart of Azeroth maxed neck? For TW purposes.
Not really. But someday, maybe. Especially if they don’t ever fix the ilvl of most the gear to match it’s content (such as the case of HoA and it’s cloak).

no it does not. HoA and the ring will prolly be used for it from now on. Along with any relevant legendaries for that time period.
I got my MoP cloak on for those that did it back then as well.
The catch with the lariat (or other crafted gear for that matter) is that you don’t actually need to personally have the recipe to craft it and it’s far, far cheaper to have it crafted for you then to either get it to drop or buy it off the AH.
Beyond that, Lariat is hands down one of the best pieces of gear in the whole god damn game right now; It’s like heart of azeroth all over again. Makes sense that the drop rate for the pattern would be stupid rare.
Please change this drop rate or something. Been farming these storm rares all day on 5 different toons and stuff like this is usually the reason I stop playing every expansion. It’s endlessly frustrating that by the time I get it, I’m just freaking done.

Honestly if you are behind on professions at any point past like the first month there is no point in doing them. It just takes way too long to get anywhere, forget about the money, just levelling professions for yourself is a pain.
Take this recipe as a prime example, it’s stupidly rare and sells for a ton still, and the longer the game goes on the less people that will be farming the recipe, therefore the harder it will be to get. But now also that we are coming into 10.1 the amount of people doing the primal invasions would drop to almost no one unless they are still trying to farm things like this recipe.
I like the idea of a profession rework, but this is just bad.
I fully expect mid 10.3 there will be a catchup, when it really doesn’t matter.
I also tried farming the neck recipe and gave up. Killed 100+ storm bosses and have nothing to really show for it.
The Unstable Elementium recipe is (nearly) a guaranteed drop, and you can buy the crafted curio to summon the rare on the AH.
Raid-only recipes from Season 1 are going to also drop from the Season 2 raid, but are there going to be any additional methods of acquiring the Lariat recipe, especially since it will continue to be BiS?
Price of EL recipe gone up with 10.1 btw. Since it’s still Bis, but no one does storms anymore

I have killed tons of the element boss and never seen it.
Still haven’t gotten it to drop - I’ve been trying since the start of the expansion. I don’t have the time to sit on each event, so it’s about weekly I can kill the bosses. No one in my guild has gotten it either. At this point, I might just sell it if I get it goes for 4 million on my server.
This is still super rare and I don’t understand why it still is.

As of this post, undermine shows that only 19 Design: Elemental Lariat are available in the US AH with the lowest price being just under 3,000,000 gold.
No pattern should be this expensive or rare in a current expansion.
It sucks anyway post-nerf, dont bother.
